in 1817, awaiting the arrival of a massive statue of Ramesses II (known in greek as Ozymandias) at British shores, Percy Shelley and Horace Smith proposed a duel, to see who could write a better sonnet inspired by the statue and an inscription. A generational mogging ensued.

Learned nothing but how to do superficial populism during his time as a Home Office stooge. How sad.
Serious offenders are escaping justice citing their mental health. The number ruled unfit to plead has nearly doubled. We need an urgent investigation.

I am genuinely honoured to have secured some time with a member of serial 502. You might not heard of them, but you will of heard of one of its members , the murder of Police Constable Keith Blakelock QGM. We talk about the events of the Broad Water Farm riot in October 1985, but just as importantly we pay tribute to Keith and his family, whose killer still remains at large. May we never forget his name and legacy. Podcast drops November 🌱

Plastic British Patriots are not very British and not very patriotic shocker!
Since the attack on the Russian data centre. The traffic for the ‘patriot party’ is mysteriously off a cliff

Strong evidence that @Glos_Police have been badly and incompetently led and managed for at least several years. It's the front line I feel sorry for. I will also bet coffee that sceptical voices did not prosper.
Today we published our latest PEEL inspection for @Glos_Police. We found that the constabulary’s performance has declined in many areas since its last inspection, including how it is managed, how it protects vulnerable people and how well it investigates crime.

Time was that this would have been cause for top team resignations, career death and shame.

Is there something rotten at the @PFEW_HQ ? It's starting to smell badly
The 18.5million pound question??? With rumors circulating of an £18.5m black hole at PFEW_HQ - members would be well within their rights to ask, who’s looking after our money?

For the avoidance of doubt, I have no cure for Policing. I cannot turn back the clock. I cannot unclick the ratchet. I cannot. I wish I could but it is beyond me. If you put me in charge, I would fail it *but* I can see how wrecked it has become and it saddens me.

It is my talent to see the dark clouds gathering around every possible silver lining but UK Policing, ah, that is in a very bad place now. The hope has all been sold It has become what Politics wanted it to ge. Just Another Job. Sic transit etc

Around 1)3rd of the people who work to keep the rest of society safe want to pack it all in. This is what happens when you move a well paid vocation based on local service into a professional graduate occupation based on lateral and upward development away from the core function

Policing has historically relied on most officers willing to serve their own communities at the rank of Constable for a long career. That is now a broken model and Policing is worse off as a result.

I wonder if Politics understands how very broken Policing is after 15 years of politically led reform. It is very, very broken and there is no person or body with a route out of this mess.

Let that sink in with the stakeholders who have collectively brought policing to this. Hang your heads @PoliceChiefs @PFEW_HQ @ukhomeoffice @CollegeofPolice What a terrible outcome from 15 years of Police reform.
National #Police Wellbeing Survey: 3 in 10 police officers and staff say they intend to leave policing within the next year. Poor work/life balance, pay and weak leadership cited as the most common reasons oscarkilo.org.uk/news/nation…

Boris Johnson and Dominic Cummings WERE put in charge of Brexit, and they then delivered it. At some point its biggest supporters need to start acknowledging that the brighter future promised by Vote Leave was a lie. That's the long and short of it. xitter.cf/tomhfh/status/21052451…
The original sin of Brexit was not allowing Vote Leave to own the project after victory. In wrestling power from the people who won the referendum, insane internal machinations within the Parliamentary Conservative Party prevented those who campaigned for the outcome from delivering that outcome. From the start the whole project was decapitated. And so here we are now, ten years on, having repealed precious little EU law, pursuing no supply side reform, indeed still building a £125m bat tunnel in order that HS2 abide by the retained EU Habitats Directive. For the best part of a decade the political class stole the victory from the people. And now they have the temerity to say their own failure is actually the fault of the people for wanting an independent country.
