Europe has developed a pretty interesting definition of “protecting democracy.” 🇷🇴 Romania annulled a presidential election after Călin Georgescu finished first, then barred him from the rerun. 🇭🇺 Hungary’s new government rewrote the constitution with retroactive limits that block Viktor Orbán from becoming PM again and later approved rules barring long-serving MPs from the next parliamentary election. 🇩🇪 Germany’s domestic intelligence service classified the AfD as extremist, opening the door to much heavier surveillance of the country’s biggest opposition party. 🇫🇷 France upheld Marine Le Pen’s conviction, kept restrictions on her political future and ordered her to wear an electronic ankle tag. 🇪🇸 In Spain, more than a dozen people tied to Pedro Sánchez’s political and personal circle have been investigated or prosecuted in separate corruption cases, while Sánchez himself has not been charged. 🇬🇧 Britain postponed local elections during a sweeping reorganization of local government, triggering a petition accusing the government of voter suppression. 🇵🇱 And now Poland has police surrounding its Constitutional Tribunal while the government and opposition accuse each other of trying to seize control of the court. The real red line in Europe may not be democracy... It may be leaving the club. Writer: Sol

Călin Georgescu, a Political Prisoner, Remains Under Arrest for Another 30 Days Romania takes pride in being a member of the European Union and NATO, a strategic partner of the United States, and a country that respects democracy and the rule of law. Yet Călin Georgescu and his lawyers should not have to learn about court decisions or legal measures taken against him through media reports citing unnamed sources, long before they receive any official notification. Once again, the media seems to know about developments in Călin Georgescu's legal cases before he or his lawyers do. We have repeatedly seen reports containing confidential information from case files, personal data, witness statements, and details of court decisions before these were officially communicated to Călin or his lawyers. The way this information reaches the public raises serious questions about confidentiality and respect for legal procedures. The public's right to information must never come at the expense of the fundamental rights of the person involved in legal proceedings, including the right to a defense, the right to a fair trial, the presumption of innocence, and the right to privacy. These differences in treatment have been particularly concerning since Călin's victory in the 2024 presidential election. The legal cases brought against him since then are politically motivated, and the allegations against him are unfounded. Fundamental rights must be respected equally, without exception. Yet in Călin's case, we have serious concerns about how the law is being interpreted and applied, and whether he is receiving a genuinely fair and impartial hearing. An independent justice system must guarantee the same rights to every Romanian, regardless of who they are or their political circumstances. Our family, including our minor children, is enduring what I can only describe as psychological torture. We are subjected to unlawful and abusive video surveillance inside our own home. Our home and accounts have also been placed under an unlawful seizure order, which disregards my rights as his wife, even though I am not a party to the cases or involved in the legal proceedings in any capacity. My children and I no longer feel safe in our own home. The very place where we should feel most protected has become a place of torture and fear. No legal process should ever turn a family's right to privacy, especially when minor children are involved, into a constant source of psychological terror. I will continue to speak out internationally about these abuses and violations of fundamental rights. What our family is experiencing is connected to Călin's decision to run for president, speak about peace and God, and win the first round with the support of more than two million Romanians and a declared campaign budget of zero. In Romania, love for one's country is met with prison bars and political persecution. Since December 6, 2024, when Romania's presidential election was illegally and unconstitutionally annulled while voting was already underway for hours, democracy has been nothing but a mask. We are witnessing the dawn of a new dictatorship. Cristela GEORGESCU 28 October 2026

🇷🇴 Georgescu’s story: • You win the first round of the presidential election • That election is annulled • You run again in the next election • You are banned from running in that one, and for life • You are detained for 30 days without evidence • You request house arrest • It is denied, and you have to stay for another 30 days And yes, this has happened in Romania, a country in the European Union. Fking bullsh*t!!! Writer: Samuel
🚨🇷🇴 BREAKING: Georgescu will remain BEHIND BARS... You read that right: the person who won the first round of the 2024 presidential election will remain in prison due to accusations that have NOT been proven, accusations that are, in fact, RIDICULOUS. The Bucharest Court of Appeal rejected Georgescu's request for house arrest, meaning he will remain in pre-trial detention. The decision was unusually close: the original two-judge panel split, forcing a third judge to step in and break the deadlock. FREE GEORGESCU!!!! Source: libertatea / Writer: Samuel

🇷🇴 The 2️⃣0️⃣th consecutive evening❗📢 And Romanians are still there! Once again, people have gathered outside Bucharest’s Central Detention Center, demanding the release of President @CG_Romania. The same determination. The same message. We will not back down. ❤️ Călin, we love you!

🇷🇴 Cristela Georgescu says Romania feels more oppressive to her today than it did before communism fell. Not because the old system was freer. Because back then, she says, nobody pretended it was. “You knew you were not allowed to talk against it.” What disturbs her now is the contradiction: people are told they are free to speak and challenge the system, while she believes political dissent is punished underneath that democratic surface. “Today we are told, ‘You’re free.’” For someone who actually remembers Romania before 1989, that distinction is what frightens her most. Not open dictatorship. A system that still calls itself free while, in her view, behaving increasingly like one. @CG_Romania
🇷🇴 The man Romania elected to be their President was arrested, and now his wife, mother of two kids, is fighting for her husband’s release. Less than 2 years ago, Călin Georgescu won the Romanian Presidential election by a wide margin, with zero marketing, no backing by the establishment, just the popular vote of the Romanian vote. The establishment went into crisis mode, trying to figure out what to do next. Their solution? They cancelled the entire election, barred him from running again, created what looks like bogus charges against him, and jailed him. This is in ROMANIA, a member of the EU that considers itself a democracy To give you an idea of who Călin is, the first interview we did together was in his small living room, which is connected to his kitchen. No fancy palace, no security, just a humble family home with his wife and 2 young kids. The second time I interviewed Călin was remotely when he was first arrested. He warned me back then that the establishment will keep going after him until he’s in jail, and he was right. It’s the same playbook playing over and over again. ‘They’ did the same thing to Trump, they failed. ‘They’ did it to President Bolsonaro, and it is failing as we speak. And now ‘they’ are doing it to Călin Georgescu. And if the world does nothing, ‘they’ will keep doing it. As former EU Commissioner Thierry Breton blatantly said in an interview: “We did it in Romania, and we will obviously have to do it if it is necessary in Germany.” The Fmr EU Commissioner blatantly telling the world that the same thing they did in Romania they will repeat in other EU countries. I spoke with Cristela Georgescu about the latest in the case against Călin, how their children watched their father being HANDCUFFED, and how her family is being FOLLOWED and their privacy VIOLATED. And after my conversation with her, one question stands out: What happens when a country continues to hold elections, calls itself a DEMOCRACY, and promises its citizens FREEDOM... but those challenging the authorities believe those very promises are being used to conceal their persecution? That's the warning Cristela Georgescu wants the world to hear. @CG_Romania

🚨🇷🇴 A Romanian court has ordered Georgescu moved from JAIL to house arrest, but prosecutors are already preparing to challenge the decision. The Bucharest Tribunal ruled TODAY that Georgescu's pretrial detention should be replaced with 30 days of house arrest. Anti-organized-crime prosecutors plan to appeal, meaning Georgescu's release from jail is far from guaranteed. And there's a precedent: the same judge previously refused to jail him in September, only for a higher court to overturn that decision. For now, the ruling is neither final nor a guarantee that he will leave detention.... Source: Realitatea / Writer: Samuel

Georgescu said many Romanians have paid a price for their patriotism and political convictions, adding that he is aware of what they have endured. He urged supporters to remain united and peaceful as Romania faces what he described as a period of serious trials. “Sooner or later, the lie will burn itself out.” 🔥 Source: Facebook / Writer: Samuel

🇷🇴 Imagine someone running in the first round of a presidential election and winning it, only for the elections to be annulled two days after the second round without any evidence being presented. Then another election is held, and the winner is barred from running again; now that same person is in jail. No, this didn’t happen in Russia, it happened in Romania, and the EU allowed it to happen. 😡😡😡 Writer: Samuel

🇷🇴 George Simion says Romania's presidential election was annulled because the WRONG candidate won. The AUR leader accused authorities of building a politically motivated case against Călin Georgescu. Simion also claimed that Romanian President Dan has no report substantiating the election annulment, and announced a separate report from a Romanian Senate committee will be released next Tuesday. Romanian authorities still haven't shown ANY proof... Writer: Samuel

🇷🇴 Romania’s 2024 presidential election was thrown into chaos after the frontrunner won the first round, only for the Constitutional Court to annul the entire vote. Now Călin Georgescu’s wife is making an explosive accusation: the word that terrified those in power was “PEACE.” Cristela Georgescu argued that her husband was targeted for opposing Romania’s involvement in a wider war and accused the country’s institutions of betraying the very democracy they were supposed to protect. She also questioned why Washington has failed to do more for a political figure who openly supported Trump, invoking the U.S.-Romania strategic partnership. What happens when the institutions entrusted with protecting citizens become the institutions those citizens fear? Writer: Sol
