Been thinking a lot about AI disclosure for games, since it's been a hot topic.
Steam requires disclosure for player-facing content created with the help of AI tools, but says efficiency gains from AI development tools aren't the focus.
Let's say I'm making a tree mesh for my game.
Two obvious endpoints:
• I manually model it in Blender. No disclosure.
• I generate it using Tripo/Meshy. Disclosure.
Now let's interpolate from t=0 to t=1:
1) I model the tree, but use a Codex-written exporter.
2) I model the tree, but use Codex-written UV, LOD and geometry optimization tools.
3) I model the tree, but write some scripts, with Codex help, to automate branch placement, leaf distribution, etc.
4) I automate more of the modelling until I've written a procedural tree generator.
5) I design and write my own procedural tree generator, with Codex helping debug and optimize it.
6) I design the procedural tree generator, but Codex writes the implementation.
7) I give Codex reference images, ask it to suggest improvements to my design, then implement those suggestions myself.
8) Same as above, but Codex implements the suggested improvements.
9) I give Codex reference images and ask it to design and implement the generator itself.
10) I use that generator, manually selecting and tweaking parameters until I'm happy with the trees.
11) Codex operates the generator and chooses the parameters, but I review and approve the results.
12) Codex operates the generator, chooses the parameters, and selects which trees ship, without my involvement.
13) I ask Codex to operate Blender directly and create the trees.
14) I generate the trees using Tripo/Meshy.
Under a literal reading, at every point in that list, the player-facing content was "created with the help of AI tools".
At what point did this cross from AI-assisted development into AI-generated art?
Is this going to be the same for everyone?
AI is a tool and 'slop' is visible. User don't need a BIO certificate on games.
TV is full of shit you don't watch done with zero ai
Steam is full of pre AI games that are shit.
If Tomorow Spielberg (or Cameron, almost sure it's happening right now) does a feature movie using AI I'll go and watch it.
For sure there is or will be a lot more shit on stores because of AI , but there will also be a lot more gems.
I think Steam, Epic, other should filter by quality using objective metrics (not likes)
@TimSweeneyEpic @Steam ?
How to NOT use an llm
Architects should look away, because Kimi K3.1 just drew a whole house in 63 seconds.
It started from an empty CAD file and put in the walls, every window and door, the kitchen and the bathroom, then dimensioned it all without a single mouse click.
Living room with kitchen, three bedrooms, a bathroom, a utility room and a hall, all fitting into 97.7 square metres.
And it didn't stop at the floor plan, because it finished with a full front elevation, roof and chimney included.
People still wait weeks for a drawing like this.
Kimi K3.1 Pro is an absolute monster..
My crazy idea to give it and GPT-6 Astra the same bee ended with Kimi growing hair on every leg.
> GPT-6 Astra built the same bee out of smooth green plastic.
> Zoom into the eye at 0:12. Kimi drew every facet, the other one is a plain dark dome.
> Kimi's shell shifts from green to blue in the light. Its wings let the background show through.
> In Kimi's 3D Make a model starts from one sentence and takes edits one change at a time.

Kimi-k3.1-pro is AGI guys.
It is
1.China's opus-5.5 but 5 times cheaper.
2. China gives us opus-5.5 for free
3. It moggs astra and near opus 5.5 grade
4. It is so good and plan limits are awesome
5. It is amazing go buy some kimi subs Claude is now over 😭

It's becoming f*cking dangerous: when Moonshot released Kimi K3.1 Pro, they didn't even realize what they were handing to everyone.
I gave it and GPT-6 Astra the same sandworm to build.
> Kimi covered every ring in panels and ran a gold band around the mouth. GPT-6 Astra stacked plain grey tubes.
> At 0:08 the mouth turns to the camera. Kimi filled it with rows of plates, the other one has a single fan of flat fins.
> When it dives, the sand turns see-through. Kimi's worm still carries every panel down there.
> Kimi's 3D Make starts from words, a sketch or a reference image and exports straight to video.

WTF. This is genuinely shameful and disturbing. A creator has exposed "Moonshot AI's Kimi K3.1 promotional brief". Under 'Narratives You Can Consider,' it suggests claiming that 'China just made Opus 5.5 free to use for everyone,' GPT-6 Sol is 'no comparison,' and Chinese open-source models are just ONE MONTH behind US frontier models. It even invokes US chip restrictions to sell the narrative.
Now look at this GTA demo claiming Kimi built it for $51.98 versus over $500 for Astra/Opus 5.5. That's strikingly similar to the campaign's cost-comparison pitch. I've watched demos from creators I trust, like Bijan Bowen, and the model doesn't look nearly as GOOD as advertised. At this point, how can anyone distinguish independent reviews from paid marketing?
Post 2 exposing Kimi AI
That's the creators campaign docs I got from Kimi AI after their Kimi K3.1 pro release and thats the narrative they want creators to push, of course I'm out and I'm never gonna say something I don't test myself and give my honest opinion about and I don't want to be involved in this China vs US political situation.
Loving it ! GG
Daytime mode dropping soon! Fully convinced that racing games are just way more fun with Roadsters.
