Ah the eternal struggle of forcing myself to finish the first draft of the book I’m literally within 20k of finishing but have stalled out orrrr…. Opening a new doc for the idea that just gave me goosebumps when a scene played out in my brain on the drive home.
I like danger… and by that I mean opening a bag of chips while my dinner cooks for 45 minutes in the oven.
It’s been a Monday and I’m bribing myself with the thought of unwinding with a book after work. Do I:
a. Read This Inevitable Ruin (Matt Dinniman)
b. Reread Broken Harbor (Catherine Cowles)
c. Reread TKWNKM (Ilona Andrews)
I was going to abandon this project 11k in until I got to the line-“I’ll get a heads up of any are unaccounted for but then they’ll tip off dietary. Hopefully I’ll get enough of a lead to smuggle you out.” He’s a cinnamon roll. It’s a magical zoo. What can I say?
11k words into a new project with lighter vibes as a palate cleanser from the last one. Having. A. Ball.
Every time I consider moving past this one idea, I reread the first (and only) 10k words and squee over the MMC and I find myself hooked again.
It’s Friday night. It’s pouring rain and 45 degrees. Oh no I have a good book and two blankets with me on the couch. What is a girl to do?
Me writing editorial notes to myself about my dark paranormal romance is blue sparkly gel pen is a mood.
Me - I wonder if someone could walk into my house and guess I’m a writer”
Also me - has notebooks tucked behind pillows and pens and highlighters on every table.
Working on edits for a paranormal romance and then the perfect first line for a work in progress at least one project away from priority so I had to create the new doc to get it down.
And sometimes on a random Wednesday night, you finish the first draft of your dark paranormal romance.
Googling what the inside of a couch looks like for book reasons. Pantser Devon has stumbled across a fun thread.
The break from drafting continues because I am reading a superrrrrrrr talented agent sib’s book and I am having my heart wrenched out of my chest while simultaneously believing in love and it’s a wild ride. And that’s not even taking into account the magic and creatures.
Can’t believe I finished this rewrite and got to send it to my agent tonight. Now… do I relax or do I pick up my other paranormal romance and see where I left off?
Am I going out this NYE? Yeah. To get my takeout and then it’s me, the couch, and season one of The Hunting Party.
Spelled silhouette correctly on my first try. I don’t even care what happens in the rest of the chapter now.
