Hubs & Dad. 🇨🇦. Focused on inclusion & development in Africa… Oh, & also fighting cartels & their misuse of international legal systems. My battle goes on.

Joined March 2014
During the lowest of points of my incarceration & legal battle against corruption in #Africa it was 🇨🇦 diplomats who advocated for fairness & legal rights when no one else could, who ensured medical care where there was none, who provided guidance & support to my family in crisis. We are forever grateful to the incredible, talented, & dedicated team that work on behalf of #Canada at @GAC_Corporate
Today, on the International Day of Diplomats, we recognize Canada’s diplomats worldwide. Through their expertise and dedication, they strengthen global partnerships, support Canadians abroad and advance Canada’s interests in an increasingly complex world. Thank you!

In 2022, 56.1% of female-headed households in Rwanda had electricity, versus 66.7% of male-headed households. For more than six in ten women without power, the main barrier was upfront cost. Here's how that changed. #Mission300 worldbank.org/en/news/featur…

900 million Africans are still offline. In Burundi, a basic smartphone costs 275% of the average monthly income. In Botswana, just 3%. Connectivity is not just a tech issue. It is an equity issue. Download the latest #AfricaEconomicUpdate for more: bit.ly/4rNgZqI

Good piece by @LopesInsights. #Africa does not need risk to be overlooked, nor is anyone asking for that, but instead for it to be properly understood & priced. Better data, stronger domestic financial institutions & more informed international investment are essential to lowering the cost of capital & unlocking growth.
Lopes: "It is one thing to be considered risky. It is quite another to be persistently mispriced. For decades, African economies have been assessed through risk frameworks that only partially capture their realities. The consequence has not simply been analytical distortion – it has been a material cost to development." businessdailyafrica.com/bd/o…

Fantastic move! Africa’s #infrastructure financing challenge isn’t simply about finding more #capital. It’s about better mobilizing the capital already on the continent, alongside international investment. A $15bn African-led project pipeline is an encouraging step. Turning it into financed, operational infrastructure is what matters, & this is exactly the team that can make that happen. #African capital building #Africa’s #future.

Data is key. #Inclusion works when we have #data to support our decisions - for lending or access to the right products & services, for clients making informed decisions that are best for their financial future. Data drives all of this, & in today's environment in #Africa, that data is getting more robust & accessible, which is a good thing for driving #digitial & #financial inclusion across the continent.

Encouraging outlook for #Africa, w growth projected at 4.3% in 2026. The priority must be translating this into jobs & opportunity. Mobilizing African capital alongside global investment, & expanding financial & digital inclusion, will be key. Yes it is positive now we need to see the impact at the local level for ppl.
