I've been down the rabbit hole, studying a lot of LLM fundamentals, and came across something interesting
Did you know that non-English text can cost more in AI token usage than English text?
This is because of tokenization, the process of converting text into tokens that AI models can understand.
Most popular tokenizers are heavily optimized for English, meaning words in languages like Swahili, Arabic, or Chinese may be split into more tokens than equivalent English text.
More tokens = higher API costs.
So, in some cases, asking an AI a question in Swahili could cost more than asking the same question in English.
Language inequality exists even in AI pricing 😂

The marketplace.json file contains metadata about your plugin:

Yiksi is now licensed in South Africa 🇿🇦
Kenyan-headquartered fintech Yiksi has been authorised by South Africa’s Financial Sector Conduct Authority as a Category I Financial Services Provider for crypto assets, under licence number 55213 held by its subsidiary Yiksi Fintech (Pty) Ltd.
The approval gives it a regulatory basis to pursue banking, liquidity and payment partnerships in South Africa for products including Taran App, Yiksi Wallet and Yiksi Pay for Merchants, which convert local currencies to stablecoins and handle cross-border transfers.
Founder and CEO Bile Ahmed Kabah called it a milestone for regulatory accountability and customer trust, while in Kenya, licensing under the Virtual Assets Service Providers Act, 2025 has yet to begin as the National Treasury finalises regulations.
