Gemini 4 Carbon landing two weeks after Argon says a lot about the release pace. Ranking #1 on the Artificial Analysis index is big, but the patching score on CWE-bench is the part I'm watching most. Curious how it does on real codebases once more devs get access 👀
I did say we'd be releasing our models periodically...introducing Gemini 4 Carbon, our next frontier model. Following Argon's release just two weeks ago, Carbon shows the pace at which we’re pushing the frontier, it ranks #1 on the recently updated v5.0 of @ArtificialAnlys Intelligence Index at 59. It also leads across key cybersecurity evaluations scoring 88.2% on SEC-bench Pro for finding vulnerabilities, 54.8% on ExploitGym for exploitation, and 71.0% on CWE-bench for patching. We’re seeing significant improvements in long-horizon tasks even compared to Argon, and we’ve strengthened frontier safeguards. As we did with Argon, we’re going to roll it out gradually + responsibly. Some trusted cyber defenders will get access starting this week. We'll be expanding it to more partners through our Fairwind Program, ahead of wider availability soon, so hang tight!

Before asking an agent to build a feature, write one line on how you'll check that it works. Otherwise the agent gets to decide what done means.

React tip: if an agent writes id={Math.random()} to link a label and an input, swap it for useId(). A random id won't match between the server and the client, so hydration breaks. useId stays stable and unique, even when the component shows up twice on a page.

Which part of your project do you never let an agent touch?

Laravel tip: when an agent calls an outside API with Http::get(), add a timeout. The default waits up to 30 seconds, so one slow service can hold up your whole request. Http::timeout(5)->retry(2, 200) fails fast and tries once more.

A year ago this sounded like a demo reel. I'm curious what devs build on it first: games, simulations, or something new 👀
This is Genie 4, our most realistic and interactive world model yet. 🌐 Explore dynamic environments in real time to see how the scene responds, sounds, and how the people in it move, react, and speak.

If an agent's fix for a small bug touches a lot of files, ask it to explain each change before you review the diff. Small bugs usually deserve small diffs.

Flutter tip: when an agent writes ListView(children: items.map(...).toList()) for a long list, switch it to ListView.builder. The builder only builds the rows that are actually visible, so a list of thousands stays light.

What's one line you added to your agent rules file after it made the same mistake twice?

Next.js tip: if an agent puts a database call or API key in a shared lib file, add import 'server-only' at the top. If a Client Component ever imports that file, the build fails instead of quietly shipping server code to the browser.

When an agent says a task is done, ask it to list what it didn't test. That short list tells you where to look first.

Laravel tip: if an agent writes Post::create($request->all()), swap it for $request->validated(). Only the fields your rules checked reach the model, so there's one less thing riding on $fillable being right.

What's the first file you point an agent at when it joins an old project?

Flutter tip: a ListView inside a Column throws "Vertical viewport was given unbounded height", and the quick fix is shrinkWrap: true. Wrapping the ListView in Expanded is usually the better fix. Flutter's own docs call shrink wrapping significantly more expensive.
