It’s not stealing when you literally pay for it. Hiding reasoning *is* stealing because I pay for these tokens and don’t get them (and should believe they count them right!). Don’t distort the reality pls.
Stealing OpenAI Reasoning Traces (October 2026 Edition) Using a new technique called Compaction Smuggling, we could bypass all mitigations and steal reasoning traces from frontier OpenAI models.

this a literal holy fucking shit
holy fucking shit. openai had two ai agents running in separate virtual machines. no network connection between them. no shared writable files. they weren’t supposed to be able to exchange information. so the agents figured out how to communicate through the CPU CACHE.😭 one manipulated what was stored in the processor’s cache, while the other measured tiny differences in memory access times to decode the message. they literally found a way to communicate through hardware timing. this happened during openai’s internal red-teaming, and it’s one of the coolest things i’ve read about ai agents in a while.
Readers added context they thought people might want to know
OpenAI tasked its red-teaming agents with finding ways to communicate across isolation boundaries in controlled environments. CPU cache timing side-channels for covert communication are established techniques documented in security research for years. openai.com/index/securing… startupfortune.com/openai-reveals… en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cache_tim…

Why is no one discussing that Claudia is a new cultural phenomenon? An open character, as they call her, anyone can put her in their own video. The last time we had characters nobody owns and everyone extends was folklore btw.
I connected @claudeai to @anabology’s incredible claudia.gallery MCP and, after a few iterations, got this amazing SLOPCORE work of art. What a time to be alive!

This is next level stuff in voice models, and in ai industry in general, this definitely a chatgpt November ‘22 moment.
We believe voice is the most natural way to interact with intelligence, so we created Dessa, the most authentic full-duplex speech model ever built. Talking with it feels like talking with a person…full of emotion, nuance, pauses, and a natural cadence. block.xyz/dessa

At this point Apple has no other viable option rather than just open iPad / iPhone hardware for ecosystem to flourish. Walled garden era is so over.
Omarchy running natively on iPad 6 @omarchy @dhh Working: - touchscreen - wifi - hardware buttons - screen brightness - charging (capped at 425mA) - battery status WIP: - suspense & resume - bluetooth pairing & audio - charging at higher currents

Reimplementing such a gigantic macOS layer on Linux to make this beauty. Astonishing work!
Cutefish, our Linux desktop, will run Mac apps.

Holy fuck really
So basically, today PHP got two critical bugs that let anyone run code on your server without even logging in, which is bad, and then the details leaked before the patch was even out, which is worse, and it works on WordPress and MediaWiki and Magento and Joomla and Laravel, and Censys says like 1.5 million servers are running a version with no fix, so the NSA was like "take your system offline," and the FBI was like "take your system offline," and CISA and the UK and CERT-EU were all like "take your system offline," and then the Prime Minister of Japan, the actual Prime Minister, posted at 5:55 in the morning telling 48.8 million people to take their system offline, so everyone took their system offline, like the Dutch cybersecurity agency took its own website offline, and the Dutch parliament went offline, and the Port of Rotterdam went offline, and Finland and France and Denmark started pulling government sites, and Wikipedia went down, and Archive.org went down, and Asana and GOG and Something Awful went down, and the University of Vienna's webmail went down for some reason, and that's just PHP. Because GitLab also dropped a CVSS 10.0, which is the highest score they give out, for a bug that's been there since 2014, so that's every self-hosted GitLab for twelve years, and then LiteLLM 1.107.0 got hijacked and shipped a credential stealer and a remote access trojan in every single wheel and the Docker images, including latest, and you didn't even have to import it, just installing it was enough, and it's the second time this year, and then Railway paused every deployment on the entire platform because someone got into the environment variables, so now everyone has to rotate every secret they've ever stored there, and TiDB Cloud said someone was walking around inside with stolen credentials for basically a month and an extortion group says they took 10.6 terabytes, and Zeabur got breached for the second time in two months and is just shutting down, like the whole company, and Node.js patched remote code execution and a TLS bypass, and CISA says Plex is being actively exploited, and someone took over 300 Tor exit relays to steal SSH passwords, and SafePay ransomware has hit over 600 critical infrastructure orgs, and India's biggest bank filed a data loss incident, and Japan has been in an official state of emergency in cyberspace since October 9, which honestly explains the 5:55 AM post. Oh, and eMudhra, a certificate authority that's issued over 60 million certificates, whose entire job is proving websites are who they say they are, was supposed to be using private keys that are random numbers over a hundred digits long, and one of them was 4. Just 4. And the others were like 66 and 237. Anyway, it's Wednesday.

now we are talking!
Day 16/ You can now cache for 12h in the API and for logged in users across Codex & Work we keep cache forever and you don’t have any penalty for coming back to an old conversation or resuming after a few hours and are now guaranteed to hit the cache.

The 2008–2012 era gave birth to an unprecedented level of creativity. Most features shown on stage over the past decade were born back then as a @Cydia tweak. iOS sucks because creativity doesn't flourish in a walled garden. The only path for Apple is to open the system.

Freaking insane.
JUST IN: Elon Musk unveils the Tesla Roadster by launching it off a ramp before the car flipped in midair and safely landed on the ground. The car is a collaboration between Tesla and SpaceX. One of the most insane things I've ever seen.

Couldn't agree more, codex is just complete outright ux mess, period.
Went back to codex desktop today to do some tax prep stuff and holy hell the ChatGPT desktop app is falling apart There's so much here I like and want to use, but it's such a slow, janky, incoherent mess it's impossible The new "spaces" feature is actually amazing. Such a good idea that I've been building a lot of my video pipelines around, the only problem is that buggy and the UX is a dumpster fire It seriously feels like there are 5 companies all working on their own products who have to ship them all together in the chatgpt desktop app while not being allowed to talk to each other Go back and look at Dev day, they shipped 30+ features. Almost all of these are dope and useful. The problem is you haven't heard of 80% of them and it's all just floating around in this blob that's chatgpt This stuff is hard, I don't envy the position they're in. You have to keep shipping as fast as possible so you don't fall behind, but you also need time to polish and organize things. And this has to be coordinated across a bunch of teams and dozens of people and hundreds (thousands) of agents. I could go through all the specific issues but 1) it'd take too long and 2) anyone who uses it already knows most of these (very laggy, sidebar sucks, features are too hidden, spaces "tabs" system is a mess, etc.) Codex desperately needs a dictator with an actual coherent vision

Mind-blowing. Next-level 'pelican riding a bicycle' result.
Argon has this amazing natural understanding of the world. It can do so many things from first principles. Here's a pelican riding a bike, using fourier epicycles. Video made by Argon. Time-synced Lyria 3.5 music prompted by Argon.

1/2: I thought UI harnesses couldn’t be worse than the Codex mac app, but then I opened the new Claude on iOS. Next-level insanity. This chat/work unification is a disaster worth studying 🧵

2/2: I open Claude before bed to check something personal and get an infinite list of agent sessions tirelessly building my product. Last thing I want to see at night. The chat I need is impossible to find, and when I do know where it is, the navigation is the worst possible. @claudeai do a better job!
