Over the weekend, I caught up with a lot of the @Aptos fam IRL at blockfest africa.
We had some amazing discussions, and as always, I shared my vision on why Aptos has not yet gained strong traction in Africa, and what needs to be done about it.
This was a perfect opportunity to market Aptos to a global African audience, but unfortunately, we missed it. I tried to get Aptos to sponsor the event, but I still don’t know why the Aptos Foundation didn’t give it serious consideration.
That said, two projects from the Aptos ecosystem, @predictonfliq and @Cash_Markets did show up. Big shoutout to their ambassadors, who did a great job onboarding thousands of people.
Africa is a vast continent with 54 countries and over 1.55 billion people. It's a major player in cross-border payments, with Nigeria ranking second globally in crypto adoption.
If Aptos truly wants to become the "money chain," then the Africa region needs more attention. Right now, it’s still far behind Solana, Sui, and Base in terms of user adoption here.
