I've said this before and I'll say it again: to break communion with the Episcopal Church on the grounds that there can't be two conflicting doctrines of sexuality/marriage only to then allow two conflicting doctrines of baptism completely negates the ACNA's reason for existing.
Anglican churches shouldnt be doing dual practice on baptism bro

There's no shortage of rotting ex-logging towns in the PNW region that look just like this, and there are some very good reasons that even these dim chuds avoid them.

Yall are about to see what Mahomes does when the lights get bright. Especially with a ELITE rusher? Lmaooo I’m worried for these Seahawks fans’ mental health. Shits about to get real.

I really didn’t hold it against Kenneth Walker for leaving the Seahawks - he wanted to be an RB1 - but watching him be a complete wimp and walk off the field without shaking hands after they beat him handily at his own game is pretty sour.

Ratioing Aella on this specific point in what I believe is our only ever interaction on here was not on my bingo card
Impossible to overstate how much we live in a moral world shaped by Christianity. The idea that this sentiment would have been shared by Christ’s contemporaries or by us today if he’d never lived is preposterous.

going thru diaries from when i was struggling with my Christian faith. It seems even from a very young age, I was confused that Jesus's sacrifice was supposed to be such a big deal. I find multiple entries across the years with variations on "Obviously any of us would do that for someone we loved, it kinda seems like Jesus just hitting the bare minimum"

It’s improbable a man will be the first time a woman experiences any one good thing, but he should go into it with the attitude that they haven’t experienced the range of good things he has to offer in the way he offers them, and the right kind of woman will be happy to find him.

I personally love it when the Xers and boomers at companies I work with have old school Microsoft clipart or .gifs in their email signatures. Wholesome, from another era.

Amazing to watch the Brewers just make unforced error after unforced error like this

my brother’s name is ben and my sister is marrying a guy named ben. i’m texting my mom about Thanksgiving plans and unfortunately I just had to use the phrase “the Bens”

This isn’t quite it - there are different kinds of rich people. These people will never really be accepted by old money Martha’s Vineyard types, and there is social capital among some sets (and a tremendous amount of real capital) which does require fitting in.
"Money can't buy taste" is actually kind of a anti-class signifier. Like, yeah, it can't. Once you have enough money you have no real reason to want to look tasteful if it's not your style. Looking "classy" is mostly important to people who are *striving* to look rich.

There is a throwaway line in a WSJ story about the Seattle mayor’s failures about how reps from her admin traveled to SF to learn how Lurie was leading such a successful turnaround and were stunned by how it seemed to be connected to hiring competent people who know what they’re doing.
Nordstrom Rack will open next year at 2 Stockton Street, near Union Square! Three years ago, companies were leaving San Francisco. Today, they want to be here, and Nordstrom Rack’s decision to return to the heart of our city is another sign of the growing confidence in San Francisco. The 50,000 square foot Nordstrom Rack is just the latest example of retail coming back downtown.  We're making our streets safer and cleaner, bringing people back downtown, cutting red tape, and creating the conditions for businesses to succeed. I'm thrilled that Nordstrom is choosing to invest in San Francisco again, and look forward to welcoming Nordstrom Rack as we continue building on our city's momentum.

I think the difficulty here is what “winning a war” means. Few of the African air forces people keep talking about are set up for the kind of sustained precision bombing campaigns required to meaningfully give them an edge invading Europe. They mostly fly fighters.

They don’t have the equipment or logistics to launch or sustain a naval invasion which means they’d have to somehow fight their way through the Middle East, cross the Bosporus, and fight all the way through the Balkans while resupplying almost entirely by land.

At the end of the day, the war in Ukraine has taught us that when push really comes to shove a lot of land warfare is a slog in muddy trenches and the Europeans can probably muster sufficient industrial and manpower capacity to at the very least stop an advance.
