Adon Shuler is playing Sunday. His dad would be mad if he didn't. Just 48 hours after announcing the loss of his father, Shuler rejoined his team feeling inspired by the life he lived. "Blessed to have the 20 years of my life with my dad." Free story: on3.com/teams/notre-dame-fig…

The computers love #NotreDame. The human poll voters? Not quite as much. But what matters now isn't where the Irish rank. It's what they become. ☘️ Four bold predictions involving CJ Carr, Jonaz Walton and two Irish assistant coaches. on3.com/teams/notre-dame-fig…

With its win over Michigan, Indiana passes Notre Dame in the AP Top 25. So does Georgia, despite being on bye as well. Also notable: The Irish are three spots ahead of BYU, despite the head-to-head loss.

Expanding on this, BYU’s loss does not functionally make Notre Dame’s loss worse. Great teams have bad games and this was an obvious letdown spot for BYU. It does, however, make Notre Dame’s loss *look* worse. And that matters, in the event Nov. 7 does not go as planned.
Notre Dame would have loved it if BYU ran the table after upsetting the Irish. They did not.

CJ Carr brought the binoculars to watch his brother, Tommy, make his first start. Given everything the Carr family has done for Notre Dame — and everything it stands for — this is a rival player worth supporting if you're an Irish fan.

"I thought BK was big-time. When he plays like that, we're a totally different team." — Micah Shrewsberry No, not that BK. Brady Koehler showed tonight why Notre Dame men's basketball is his team, right now. @BGInews takeaways from the exhibition win: on3.com/teams/notre-dame-fig…

Braeden Shrewsberry, who left tonight's game with an apparent injury, will be fine. Bruised his back in a scrum last week against Dayton and got hit in the same spot tonight. Micah Shrewsberry said he's day-to-day, but it sounds like he should be fine for Rome.

Notre Dame leads DePaul 67-58 with 2:44 to go. I'd caution against putting much stock into the result here, because neither side is playing its full lineup in crunch time. But this run, spearheaded by Koehler, Ahneman and Sanderson, has bene encouraging.

DePaul's 7-footers are hounding the Irish bigs, which is why the Blue Demons hold a 28-10 advantage in points in the paint. Logan Duncomb's presence would help significantly. However, Notre Dame made enough threes (12) that it hasn't mattered yet. 56-54 Irish lead.

It was a rough start for Penn transfer Ethan Roberts, but he found his groove in the second half. Two three-pointers and 4 rebounds — 2 on the offensive end, both of which led to points — for Roberts so far in the frame. Notre Dame leads DePaul 46-44.

Halftime: DePaul 36, Notre Dame 35 The Irish went cold from three-point range late in the first half and, as a result, went scoreless for the last 4:32.

Jonathan Sanderson just hit his second three and then took a heat-check from the Wintrust Arena logo. He missed it but not sure I blame him. Notre Dame is 7-of-12 (58.3%) from beyond the arc. Is that sustainable for a full season? It might have to be.

Braeden Smith has hit 3 three-pointers early. That would be greatly helpful for the Irish if it's a skill that sticks, because it would give them shooters 1-4.

Notre Dame is 2-of-2 from three-point range early, which was a problem last week at Dayton. Brady Koehler hit one of them, which is a good sign. The Irish need him to be an out-and-out star to make this roster work.
