This unforgettable moment, reuniting with my babies after a year deployed to East Africa. Thank you to their teachers, babysitter, grandparents, aunts, uncles and Mommy for loving them and protecting them. Daddy is glad to be home!

"We are not losing our young people because of the weather. We are losing them because of zoning."
PSO has been one of the largest redevelopment projects of public housing in America. We are so proud to ensure many of those residents aren’t displaced in the redevelopment, but have a new home that provides dignity, affordability and sustainability.
We just closed financing on the next phase of Perkins Homes in East Baltimore, helping to bring 150 new affordable apartments. When finished, Perkins Homes will have over 1,300 energy-efficient homes.
Thank you to @jacobrday, @MayorBMScott, and everyone helping to make progress like this possible for Marylanders.

I put together an awesome animation of the DMVs month-over-month Home Price change since 2018
Pre-June 2020 the DMV had healthy appreciation
June 2020 - June 2022 was an absolute BOOM across the area except for that hole we call DC Proper
June 2022 - Today sees waves of positive and negative appreciation in pockets except for parts of DC, which is consistently negative

the city requires two parking spaces per apartment, a garage space costs $50k to build, so fewer units pencil out, so rent goes up, so people move somewhere cheaper and farther, so they need a car. the parking requirement manufactures the demand for the parking requirement

Opposition to new housing isn't an informed disagreement about supply and demand. People just don't believe supply lowers prices, and that belief is weak.
A video on the housing chain moved opinions 3x more than typical messaging. @NiskanenCenter

Meet Steven Palmer, DHCD’s first State Housing Ombudsman. Steven talks about how he helps solve housing problems in the state and why he loves Maryland so much. If you’re running into roadblocks that Steven can help with, reach out to him at [email protected].
There is zero validity to the claim we don’t have to reform zoning laws. This isn’t about demand. This isn’t about greed. This is about expensive regulatory process leading to a narrow subset of housing being able to escape the vortex of building rules while still profitable.

To kick off this TRIUMPHANT comeback, the housing man himself @jacobrday is returning as cohost.
This one is a GUARANTEED banger! Iykyk!
Seriously tho, great conversation on thoughtful ideas to move Maryland forward. 100% worth a listen!
Great conversations with leaders from across Montgomery County today!
1. DHCD Secretary @jacobrday visited Montgomery County as part of DHCD's Day Trips: Community Connections series, meeting with local leaders and community partners to talk about housing, homelessness, and economic development.
A husband and wife. Creating a small business. Using Maryland-grown grain and fruits. To create Maryland-made products. In their city. In a historic and vacant bank building. Bringing a corner to life. This is our economy at its best. And it only takes a little, focused help.

3. The visit wrapped up with a tour of the historic Takoma Park Bank, which is being transformed into a new distillery and cocktail bar with $150,000 in state support. Read more: tinyurl.com/yjzxnjhh #GreatPlacesWin
