Wrote an opinion piece for the Metro about the role of Muslim services to the white working class hit hardest by austerity
“It’s a side of Islam that not all Brits have seen up close before, and one that Tommy Robinson would prefer remains veiled.”

The Prophet’s ban on donkey meat was given for a specific situation. The Imams, whose knowledge came from the Prophet, knew that if that situation changed, a different ruling would apply. So the Imam wasn’t overturning the Prophet’s ruling but explaining the context
The shariah gives us a sense of autonomy and the opportunity to apply our aql. For example, we pray zuhr only when we are confident the zuhr time has begun. We fast for Shahr Ramadhan only when we are sure the month has begun. Or we renew wudhu only if we're sure it's broken.
To celebrate Yemen’s multiple victories over (Occupied) Saudi Arabia, I am writing a second edition of our book Baldatun Tayyibah to be released soon InshaAllah.
You can purchase the first edition here: houseoftaha.com/products/bal…

Islam has fixed, unmovable principles. However, their application depends on an individual’s or larger communal circumstances. The Ahlulbayt (as), of course, knew this well.
What would you do if there were evidence suggesting the speaker at your mosque has participated with Zionists?
Remembering a 10 or even a 3 part majlis is tough. We live in times of information overload. To help the audience absorb the message, I try and use analogies from my personal life to tie together the overall message I want to convey.
The weight of ijtihad is heavy. Navigating the gap between the Masumeen's (AS) fixed words from 1,400 years ago and applying them to today's new realities is a particularly complex science that our mujtahids have grappled with since the major occultation.
If you live in America, you are experiencing the fastest pace of change in the world. That can be a strength, but also a test. We have to learn to navigate change without losing our divinely ordained religious principles along the way.
Moving from passive to active majlis means the speaker giving the audience a chance to speak. At previous talks, I've used gamification to encourage audience participation and hopefully retention of knowledge and, more importantly, increased active engagement with the Holy Qur'an
Moving from passive to active majlis means covering topics that affect believers' day-to-day lives, not repeating the same set of topics we may already be comfortable with.
I humbly made this point before the lovely people of Orlando.
The point applies worldwide.
Moving from passive to active majlis means the speaker actively involves their audience when making a point. Lectures should not be monologues. Learning is through interaction with and challenging knowledge. I've tried this recently.
The Qur'an should be the lecturer's constitution.
Additionally, moving from passive to active majalis means encouraging interaction with the Qur'an mid-lecture to breed familiarity among the audience.
Ayatollah Hadi Modarresi teaches that if you engage with tyrannical power, there is a self-protection mechanism you must employ. Sometimes we have to engage, but we must know HOW to engage.
My meeting with "King" Charles taught me a valuable lesson in understanding how power, manipulation of Muslim’s works, particularly normalising participation of their crimes.

I sat knee to knee with Ayatollah Sistani and asked him for a story for a book I was writing on the Ulama. Watch for his answer.
You can purchase Qasal al-Ulama (Stories of the Ulama) from the usual places.
The chance of our universe existing is less than the chances of rolling the number 6 on a dice 77 times! Change just one variable and none of this exists. Science says that this proves our existence has some purpose.
