Truly glorious Slow Match Report by Daniel Gray of @NutmegMagazine - every line was exquisite, full of wonderful little turns of phrase. Could smell the foost of the polyester scarves as fans trudged past the Bing.
Do yourself a favour, grab a coffee, and go read it.
Then read it again.

I've always been fascinated by the 'cathedral' style of shot visualisation that is common in the NBA. I'm playing around with a similar thing for the Champ. Here's every shot I have that Thistle keepers have faced in the league this year - not true shot paths, obviously.
Outstanding editorial work by @VillanoXIV to turn this around, including some neat stitching near the start. Always enjoy being on and grateful the team indulge my disorganised ramblings.

Smyth, however, hasn’t really changed the way the other two have. He continues near the centre circle. He’d marginally more left biased to cover where Dempsey and Stanway move right, but otherwise, just more effective as the other two adjust positionally
Meanwhile, Dempsey had also moved more to the middle on average, to accommodate Stanway. Again this correlates with recent wins. Dempsey’s vertical move is less pronounced - sometimes as a deeper six and sometimes more centre.
We talked on DLD this week about the midfield evolution over the season. Here’s Ben Stanway game by game. Red dots are wins, yellows are draws, grey are losses. You can clearly see he’s more central in the wins (on average) and a bit further forward in at least two of them.
Two things to look out for against Stenny today: set-pieces and saves. No side in the league has scored as many goals right after a corner (4) or right after a throw-in (2) this season as today's opponents.
...and fully 4 percentage points ahead of Oxborough in second place. The Thistle keepers don't come up so well on this metric, but that's slightly a feature of the fact that we filter out a lot of shots before they even get going. On Stenny, though - teams need to work hard
In last night’s post, I looked at how Thistle are tracking compared to last season, and against the historic performance of teams who finish in different positions. Defensively, we’ve pushed the needle a bit.
And - because we have more of the ball - we are sitting higher defensively, compressing the pitch for the other side. All of these help when you’re trying to challenge for the league.
