Rehabilitation is an essential component of health care for older people. That doesn’t mean “Refer OT/PT”! It means promoting independence with all our actions, while we are looking after that person, whatever the setting. That’s down to ALL of us!

Not only is it #OTWeek2023 but today also marks the start of my NHS career 25yrs ago. My goal then was to become an OT. 5yrs later that was achieved & started my time with @EKHUFT. Very proud to be part of an amazing OT team @TherapiesEKHUFT.

OTs help you to help yourself. It's not their job to 'train' you. They teach you how you can own your own body, how to listen to it, how to learn from it, how to work it so that it can work.

I'm not sure why #OccupationalTherapy is trending today but it reminds me that it was wonderful occupational therapists working with physiotherapists and nurses at St Pancras Rehabilitation Hospital who taught me to stand up and walk, all done with care, kindness and great skill
