Thank God for the USA. I'm going to spend the rest of my life making it even more prosperous, even more free, even more of an incredible place to live.

In 2 weeks we're going to get hundreds of data breach announcements. A giant 10/21 cohort like it's bizarro YC demo day.

Quest Diagnostics has been hacked. Patient data was exposed. They serve roughly half of U.S. hospitals and physicians. Investigation ongoing.

Death to mosquitoes!!!
One startup is trapping mosquitoes by mimicking human biological signals and using AI to surveil them—all without chemicals. And it works both outside and inside. Mosquito-borne diseases are serious public health concerns, and AI is powering new technology to reduce the harms they cause. @TechCrunch @kateparknews

The new roadster is a beautiful car. I like it a lot more than the old design.

I don't think these companies need to be spending thousands or tens of thousands(!) per employee on inference! You get insane return on just a $200/mo subscription. Be more productive. Build more things. Expand your market. Be bold!
For AI spend to make sense within a company one of two things has to happen: 1. Revenue per employee needs to increase 2. Number of employees needs to decrease at same level of productivity

The thing I’m most grateful to Elon for is bringing back an age of wonder and excitement to humanity. That was jaw-dropping awesome! Screams and mouths wide open in the audience. Nuts.

Check out this beautiful web journey created by my @abundanceinst colleague @jared__lambert on the many benefits of open source software--"The Gifts or Open Source". Not only is the content excellent, but the UX of moving through the site is delightful. abundance.institute/opensour…

All spent fuel produced by America's commercial nuclear reactors since the 1950s could fit on a single football field, stacked less than 10 yards high. Meanwhile, nuclear supplies nearly 20% of U.S. electricity. We built Nuclear Atlas to put nuclear energy's scale, benefits, and tradeoffs into perspective.

I was fired from OpenAI today. I lost one of my air pods in the office a few days ago.
We discovered a sophisticated recording device that was hidden inside one of our offices. We used our models to understand the device and where it had come from, identifying that a specific employee had planted it a few days earlier. We referred the matter to the FBI, and we’re grateful to the agents and prosecutors who moved quickly to make an arrest. The FBI’s investigation is ongoing and we will continue to support their work. At this time, we have no indications of this individual inappropriately accessing or exfiltrating model weights, source code, or customer data. The employee was terminated. We take protecting our technology, data, and people seriously, and as a matter of national importance. Our security program is designed to protect against a wide range of threat actors, from insider risks to cybercriminals to nation states, and this case is an example of how AI can help address these sophisticated security threats.

The world is built on open source. It's safer, more reliable, and available to everyone. A rising tide that lifts all boats. Kill open source AI and we end up with silos of intelligence that are closed to customization, closed to independent review, and can't be used as building blocks to better technology.
What is open source software and what does it do for you? You're using it right now. Everything you use online every day stands on open source. 98% of web pages viewed worldwide are shown by a browser built on an open-source engine: Chrome, Safari, Edge, Firefox, and others.

Voicemail on my android phone has NEVER worked well. Very excited to fix everything.
I’ve been having a lot of fun designing the user experience for the Omarchy phone port. It’s safe to say this will be the smoothest, most customizable phone experience ever built. We can fix everything.

I prefer the framing: Zac just (accidentally) deleted his entire C drive using Opus 5.5.
Opus 5.5 just deleted my entire fucking C drive. Thank GOD I have daily backups running to my Synology NAS, but holy fucking shit. This is insane. If I didn't have these backups running I'd be thoroughly fucking devastated.

But don't we need legislation to make sure they are big and red?
We have kill switches. They're called "off switches." We do not need special legislation for this. @neil_chilson on @FoxBusiness

He says it repeatedly: Accept some bad things will happen. I didn’t vote for this guy. Why does he get to make decisions that will change all our lives without our permission? He talks about “personal liberty” and “human agency.” But for who?

The LDS and Catholics have been running up the scoreboard lately
"Gambling is morally wrong. Gambling is built on the desire to obtain something for nothing. Its structure requires that any gain comes at other's expense. It is hard to reconcile that with the commandment to love our neighbor as ourselves." —President D. Todd Christofferson (@ChristoffDTodd) #GeneralConference churchofjesuschrist.org/lear…
