This argument is additional reason to do away with polls as a means to rank teams. The entire body of work will play out in the win/loss column over the course of the season. Get rid of the poll and make conference championships determine who makes it to playoffs.

For the UK fans asking why the Cats are just outside my Top 25 (at No. 27)
The full résumé matters. AP ballots should reflect a team’s entire body of work, not just recent results. A stronger finish against Alabama would’ve pushed Kentucky into my Top 25.
Objectivity matters. As someone who covers Kentucky regularly, I work especially hard to avoid any perception of hometown bias. AP voters are expected to make evaluations without team or conference biases.
Healthy debate is part of the process, and I appreciate the passion! There’s still a lot of season to go.
