Before Greek influence, no European people produced a sustained body of literature or philosophy in their own languages. No manuscripts. No named philosophers, because the limits of their language were the limits of their world. Meanwhile, the Greeks had already produced an endless list of names from the Pre-Socratic age alone, and only once Europe adopted the Greek alphabet did it begin to do the same.

One way to get to know a person is by looking at their bookshelf. With so many new followers, I would like to introduce myself with my books (most of them at least). I have not read them all, but I’m working on it! The list of books can be found on my site: teddyrookbook.com/books/

You're 25. You can live with your parents until 30 and save $150k. OR Move out now and have complete independence. Which one are you choosing?

when Rome was sacked, most people living in the Roman Empire didn't notice much of a difference in their daily lives the farmers kept farming, the merchants kept trading, the normies kept norming. life went on Rome still fell the fact that you can walk down your street and get a croissant doesn't tell you much about the state of your civilization but it tells a lot about you
Just in case anyone is wondering: I live in Paris; if I didn’t have X dot com I would have no idea there are riots in France.

Your books come from the Greeks, your alphabet comes from the Greeks, Romans and Phoenicians, your myths come from the Mesopotamians, hell, the word "Barbarian" has Greek origin
Replying to @PlatosDisciple
The Greeks were a vicious, barbaric Indo-European people. You fought your Semitic brothers with Greek barbarians. In the eyes of Greek barbarians, Mesopotamia was also a desert

The complete works of Plato, hardback, sewn binding, only €24. US and UK publishers putting books this size out in glued bindings, fuzzy print, and charging 4 times as much. Something is different about the Italian book market

making an unscripted video about Gen Z’s performative activism towards genocides and I have no idea how it’ll be received… if it’ll be suppressed by the algorithm… or if I even did a good job articulating my points… I’m just so tired and angry

Harvard never declared ice cream a superfood. The image misrepresents observational data from large cohort studies; researchers found no causal benefit, viewed results as puzzling, and did not endorse or recommend it as such. theatlantic.com/magazine/archi… blackdotresearch.sg/is-ice-cream-a… hsph.harvard.edu/nutritionsourc… link.springer.com/article/10.118…
