On April 8, 2023, a speeding Toyota Innova crashed into a scooter from behind near Manimala in Kottayam, Kerala.
Victims: The crash killed two brothers, Jis John (35) and Jins John (30), who were riding the scooter.
Driver: The Innova was driven by K. M. Mani Jr., (son of Comrade Jose K Mani), who was 19 years old at the time.

Falsified records: Initial police reports and media releases omitted the teenager's name, instead listing a 45-year-old dummy driver as the person behind the wheel.
Delayed arrest & blood tests: The police faced heavy criticism for failing to conduct immediate medical and blood alcohol tests on Mani Jr., delaying his formal arrest until 48 hours later (Monday morning), and promptly releasing him on bail.

๐จSHOCKING - FIR against Malabar:
A man walked into a Malabar Gold showroom in Bilaspur with a simple request: exchange his old 22-carat HUID-hallmarked bracelet.
The staff ran it through their XRF machine. Once. Twice. Three times.
Every reading came back the same: 20 carat.
They even told him the hallmark didnโt exist.
He called the local jeweller who had sold him the bracelet. The jeweller walked in, confirmed the HUID, and asked them to test it again.
Same machine. Same bracelet. Same room.
This time an employee adjusted something on the machine. Suddenly the reading flipped to 916 - pure 22 carat.
The jeweller recorded everything. The Sarafa Association arrived. Police registered an FIR against the showroom manager and the machine operator. The machine and DVR were seized.
This wasnโt a small local shop. This was Malabar Gold โthe chain that advertises trust, purity, and BIS standards across Indiaโ.
One bracelet. Two readings. An 8% gap in gold value. And the only thing that changed was who was watching.
If a hallmarked piece can magically lose two carats the moment a customer wants to exchange it, and magically regain them the moment someone pushes back, what exactly is the machine testing?
Customers donโt walk into Malabar expecting a calibration error that only appears when theyโre selling gold.
They walk in expecting the purity printed on their receipt.
The FIR is real.
The readings are on record.
The machine was seized.
Malabar still hasnโt explained why the same piece of gold needed a โsettingโ before it became 22 carat again.

Kerala High Court suspends the Additional District Judge after his Minor Son's Fatal Mercedes Benz Crash ๐จ
Kochi City Police booked the judge under Section 199A of the Motor Vehicles Act, concerning an owner's or guardian's responsibility when a juvenile commits a motor-vehicle offence. The Kerala High Court had permitted the police to proceed against him. The case was transferred to the District Crime Branch amid questions about the initial police response and the release of the teenager on station bail.
The Juvenile Justice Board granted bail to the 17-year-old after he was taken into custody again. Police said they would approach the Sessions Court seeking cancellation of that bail.
The case stems from Jayabalakrishnan, a 55-year-old roadside eatery owner returning home after work when the fatal collision occurred by the 17 year old son of District Court Judge. His death has left his family grieving and demanding answers.
The central demand remains equal treatment under the law. The victim's family deserves a thorough investigation, transparent handling of the evidence and a fair opportunity to seek justice. The judicial position of a parent should neither shield anyone from lawful scrutiny nor be treated as proof of wrongdoing.

In the Cheranalloor case, where a 17-year-old was driving the vehicle involved in a fatal crash, I have directed the DGP to ensure urgent and appropriate action under the law.
There will be no room for influence, pressure or preferential treatment, irrespective of who the accused is or what their background may be.
The family of the victim should have no reason to fear that justice will be compromised.
The law will take its course โ without fear or favour.

Another fatal luxury car crash that killed a scooterist in Kerala by a 17 year old, son of District Judge โ ๏ธ

The accident occurred at around 2:20 AM to 3:00 AM at Cheranalloor in Kochi. A speeding luxury Mercedes-Benz car, registered under the name of the additional judge, rammed into a scooter from behind. The scooter rider, 55-year-old Jayabalakrishnan of Manjali, was killed. He was a local street vendor returning home after closing his wayside eatery (thattukada) near a temple in Chittoor.
The 17-year-old minor, who does not possess a driving license, reportedly took the car out for a night drive. He was speeding at 100km/hr while the crash occured as per reports. The victim's niece JAYALAKSHMI claims that the accused was not shown to them at the police station and Kerala police insisted them to not get emotionally driven by this incident as if this isn't a big loss at all. The father of the 17 year old accused who is a district court judge spoke rudely at the police station asking them not to teach him law as per Jayalakshmi's claim.
The central issue is the loss of a human life. Jayabalakrishnan's family has suffered an irreversible loss, and the circumstances surrounding his death must be investigated thoroughly. The victim and his family deserve justice, while the investigation and any subsequent legal proceedings must establish responsibility on the basis of evidence rather than influence, status or public speculation.
