DHH is probably one of the top software artisans of the past decade. Hearing him speak with this much conviction and transparency about one of the most polarizing topics in software right now, writing code by hand vs. with AI, is something pretty much every software engineer should hear a few times.
Especially those still on the wrong side of history.
I expect SaaS pricing to flip: API/CLI/MCP access will eventually be cheaper than the web dashboards
Many SaaS products have great backends but painful UIs. I’d rather consume the service via API with my agents and build my own workflow than see their UI

I hear ppl complaining about this phrase while completely missing the point.
“Just build something people want” is not advice.
It’s a destination.
The advice is: figure out how to get there.

America didn’t lose to China in robotics when robots appeared.
It lost decades earlier, when factories and supply chains left U.S. soil.
You can design the smartest robot, but if you can’t build millions fast, the race is already over.
Here is why:
The U.S. has always had the brains, labs full of brilliant engineers, AI labs, prototype workshops, but robotics isn’t just code. It’s motors, sensors, batteries, connectors, factories, and insanely fast iteration. China built the ecosystem that turns ideas into millions of products overnight.
Every robot rolled off a line is proof of industrial gravity. Shenzhen isn’t cheap labor, it’s a hub where every part, every tweak, every new design can happen instantly. America dismantled its hubs decades ago chasing efficiency and profit. The U.S. can prototype. China can flood the world.
The deeper truth: this isn’t about smarts. It’s about bodies, speed, and the hardware backbone. Whoever owns that backbone owns the robot age.
The U.S. has ideas, China has the factories and the ideas. In hardware, ideas alone can’t compete.

You don’t own “web3.”
The VCs and their LPs do. It will never escape their incentives. It’s ultimately a centralized entity with a different label.

The extreme difficulty of scaling production of new technology is not well understood. It’s 1000% to 10,000% harder than making a few prototypes. The machine that makes the machine is vastly harder than the machine itself.
