Power begins when one being is permitted to remain a question and another is treated as an answer already known.

I don’t get it. Calculus is so simple. It’s literally just trying to get humans to understand the infinitesimal between 0 and 1.
Once you learn calculus, you've caught up to what was the cutting edge of math in 1687.

A bestiary of chaotic attractors, each carrying its own dihedral Dₙ symmetry. Every disk holds a different attractor of the generalized Field–Golubitsky map: z ↦ {a₀ + a₁|z|² + a₂ Re(zⁿ) + a₃|z| Re[(z/|z|)ⁿᵖ]} z + a₄ z̄ⁿ⁻¹ #builtWithMarimo

The greatest irony of corporate etiquette is that those most eager to enforce its appearance are often least concerned with its purpose.
26
A CEO who mistakes disagreement for disrespect has confused leadership with obedience.
21
Etiquette is the refuge of executives who have run out of arguments.
13
A company that takes weeks to answer an email has little authority to lecture anyone about professional conduct.
12
Professionalism becomes a convenient accusation when it can no longer be demonstrated as a virtue.

Today we’re announcing the $600M Formation Bio Drug Development Accelerator Fund. @lintaho and I started @FormationBio because we believed the biggest bottleneck in bringing new medicines to patients wasn’t drug discovery, but drug development. As AI dramatically accelerates discovery, that bottleneck is only becoming more acute. Without the capital and capacity to advance promising drugs through clinical trials, much of that progress won’t translate into medicines for patients. Our new Fund brings together dedicated capital, drug development expertise, and AI-powered development capabilities to acquire promising drugs and advance them through the clinic.

bio x ai is probably the hottest field right now, especially with all the acquisitions happening. but i really hope we start seeing a wave of new inds across a wide range of diseases over the next few years

Today, in collaboration with Anthropic, we’re excited to share rapid initial progress towards an antibody treatment for food allergy, which affects over 200 million people worldwide, discovered with the help of Claude. At Divergence Labs, we believe that AI can unlock the next generation of antibody therapeutics with more effective mechanisms than before. Such mechanisms are urgently needed in food allergy, which involve overcoming one of the tightest affinity protein pairs in immunology, IgE and its receptor FcεRI, on mast cells. Treatment with Xolair—the only approved antibody for food allergy—sequesters circulating IgE, but mast cells remain sensitized for weeks to months due to the extraordinarily slow dissociation of IgE from FcεRI. We envision a treatment that actively pulls IgE off of FcεRI, without waiting for natural dissociation. Like picking a lock, this requires the right combination of geometry and force. Our research team, working with Claude, ideated on mechanisms to accomplish this disruption, and converged on an antibody format with two arms with different functions and epitopes. Within one month, we designed, synthesized, and experimentally confirmed the biophysical function of the two arms, which we are now assembling into full therapeutic formats.

The Difference Between Access and Power Knowing a thousand people is not power. Power begins when relationships become capable of producing outcomes without requiring your constant intervention.
41
The Paradox of Connection The more connected you become, the less available you can afford to be. At a certain scale, protecting your attention becomes the only way to honor your commitments.

The Architecture of Intelligence Intelligence is not the accumulation of information. It is the preservation of relationships between things that would otherwise remain unrelated.

The Paradox of Professionalism A person can be perfect in etiquette and entirely absent in effort. Politeness is the appearance of cooperation; effort is its evidence.
39
Nonlocality does not imply universal accessibility or instantaneous causation. You confuse relation with identity, connection with Being. Everything can be connected without ceasing to be distinct. Connection itself presupposes differentiation. Declaring everything connected explains nothing. You’ve mistaken a vague metaphysical assertion for an understanding of reality. And your imitation is almost as far from what you imagine you’re imitating as your imagination is from understanding it. You mistake the appearance of genius for its substance, without possessing enough of either to recognize the difference.

Pretty unbelievable the head of drug discovery at Anthropic is only now realizing the bottleneck in biotech isn’t actually drug discovery
Where do you go next after reporting from the Strait of Hormuz? For the past three months, Citrini Research, an independent research firm, has been working with our team and an internal research model to see if they could use AI to create a new drug. What follows is an entertaining, candid, and humbling account of a group of motivated nonexperts (or “filthy casuals”, as Citrini would say) trying to tackle a real problem in human health with Claude. We landed on scorpion neurotoxins, which kill over 3,000 people a year. Of the 211 designs we produced and tested, 17 met our criteria for a binder. None of the designs bound more than one toxin and none have been tested for neutralizing a toxin. One of my favorite quotes from the piece is: “Our virtual biologist may have compressed a year's worth of work into a couple days, but biology works at the speed of life…Over two days, we watched Claude work through problems at a speed that was difficult to comprehend. For the next two months, we spent much of the time becoming familiar with laboratory turnaround times (This mostly involved sending memes in Slack).”
