I’m a sucker for anything in media Viking-related. Whether it’s the Vikings show, Vinland Saga, or The Last Kingdom, so I was eager to finally witness Rob Eggers take on Norse mythology. Glad to say The Northman shares the same high quality as its predecessors. Sublime directing from Eggers. He created a fitting atmosphere for this narrative. So much to rave about but his use of extended tracking shots and stunning lighting was next level. Revenge tales have been told countless times. When executed like this, through a crystal-clear vision, they can still reach soaring heights.
