Election collapse for Republicans means these GOP pieces of legislation will die:
1) Add Trump image to Mt. Rushmore
2) Rename Dulles airport for Trump
3) Declare Trump's birthday a holiday
4) Mint $250 bill w/ Trump image
5) Order NIH to study "Trump Derangement Syndrome"

Remember that time I decided not to run for Dnc chair because I felt like I could do more good actually winning elections for Democrats in their races. I made the right choice #NoDegreeRequired

🚨NEW HAMPSHIRE🚨
Democrats have won a *supermajority* in the New Hampshire House, which Republicans currently control. Democrats have also achieved their largest net gain in the New Hampshire Senate since 1847, when the Whigs were the opposition party.
They've flipped 99 House seats and 7 Senate seats.
9 House races are too close to call and could be affected by recounts.

Dem-aligned candidates flipped enough seats to break the supermajority in the NE Legislature this year! This is crucial to preserving Omaha's "Blue Dot" status and protecting Dems' path to federal power. It also marks the most seats Dems have won since at least the 2018 election.

Another Notable Texas loss this week: Rep. Candy Noble, who carried the Ten Commandments bill (SB 10) through the Texas House, lost in the Democrat sweep in Texas. See the questioning that @jamestalarico did of her on her bill.

In 2020, I ran against Scott DesJarlais in Tennessee’s 4th Congressional District.
Measured against the district’s fundamentals, I was the top-performing Democratic congressional candidate in the state that year, and I still lost by 33 points.
On Tuesday, that district flipped, making it the most Republican seat in the country to change hands.
The 4th today looks very different from the one I ran in.
The May gerrymander cut several rural counties along with some of the more conservative parts of Rutherford County.
In their place, Republicans added a slice of South Nashville.
Much of the analysis has missed what that slice did.
It moved the district 16 points to the left and brought in the most heavily Latino population in the state.
ICE raids terrorized this part of Tennessee throughout 2025 and into 2026. They radicalized voters in Antioch, Smyrna, and La Vergne, where Latino families have lived for upwards of 60 years.
Republicans were arrogant.
This was Victoria Broderick’s second run.
She is arguably the most progressive federal elected official in Tennessee’s 230-year history, but people in this conservative district knew her name, liked her authenticity, and saw her as a far better choice than the scandal-plagued DesJarlais.
No doubt she faces an uphill battle in 2028.
Still, her win is the first hard evidence of a slow, quiet shift among voters across Nashville, Tennessee, and the rural South.

Democrats secured another flip in the Maryland General Assembly.
Democrat Lara Westdorp is on track to beat Republican Sen. Bill Folden in Frederick County.
(I'm also watching the delegate races in that district, more flips possible there)

We are tired of the hate. We are tired of the disrespect of constituents. This was a revolution of decency. It’s time to govern.
My deepest condolences to Congressman-elect @Ojeda4America.
I cried when I saw this video. For those of us who have lost family to Parkinson’s, we know how cruel the disease is. But Richard Neece Ojeda fought the disease and made sure he was there for his son. May he RIP.
For years, my dad battled Parkinson’s disease. On Election Night, I got to tell him, “Pop, we won.”
This morning, he passed away.
A part of me believes he held on just long enough to see his son make it to Congress.
He won’t be there when I’m sworn in. But I know he’ll be standing right beside me.
Rest easy, Daddy. I’ll take it from here. These next two years are for you ❤️

A note of caution: never underestimate the rage of a rejected autocrat. As a historian of autocrats, I am elated by Tuesday’s election results, but we will only see more chaos and erratic behavior.
I’ll be covering it at my Substack, Lucid.substack.com.

For the last decade, @runforsomething. has run a 50 state strategy with a tight on values flexible on policy model that’s enabled us to elect 1900+ millennials and Gen Z to state and local office nearly everywhere.
Pretty cool to see that theory of change validated in a wave election!
