What strikes me about this is how it points implicitly to the difference between billionaires who build and billionaires who loot. That’s a distinction both corrupt MAGA and leftist demagogues need to think about.
"Democracy is the theory that the common people know what they want, and deserve to get it good and hard." 🥴

Money doesn't buy elections
Billionaires don't rule America
Swing voters exist
Persuasion works
There's a lot to focus on right now, but "The richest man to ever live just spent $200 million to support the Republican Senate candidate in Texas, and his man lost by double-digits in a statewide wipeout" is a completely insane sentence.
Put another way, the most expensive US Senate race before 2020 was $200 million. *One guy* spent that amount in Texas, and it doesn't seem to have made any difference. It might have hurt in a kind of Streisand effect way, in that the spending level was seen as obscene to people sympathetic to the argument that billionaires shouldn't "buy" elections.
The implications here seem pretty interesting! Especially re the limits of billionaire political power and/or the diminishing returns of money in politics.

This legitimately made me sad. TNG is maybe my favorite show and so much of its success was due to the man in the captain’s chair
#RIP Patrick Stewart of Star Trek and X Men ...
On 12-4-1997, after getting a @PressClubDC coffee mug, he was asked, "Just from a purely logical point of view, why is it that a Captain whose name is Jean-Luc Picard have a perfect English accent?"
Patrick Stewart answer here:
😞 Hopefully ascended to a better timeline 🖖

Touching my laptop screen is a jail-able offense, so one that doesn't turn into a tablet seems pointless to me.
I do hope the glow logos come back across the lineup though.

At some point you, as an IT person, have to ask yourself the question “could someone at work beat the shit out of me in front of 50 of our coworkers and nobody would claim to have seen anything?”
