Paul has been talking about handling differences of opinions among Christians. Here in Chapter 15 he says it’s up to the stronger, more mature believers to set the tone by being sensitive to those who are still growing in their faith. Vs 2 says our duty is to help each other and not to just live to please ourselves. What does that mean? We should definitely instruct and teach those who are growing. We want to build them up and show them what God’s word says. Vs 5 says however that we need to be patient and encouraging as we instruct—and that’s not just a Christian principle. Those were the two most important traits I looked for when picking coaches for my coaching staff. I wanted men who were very patient and very encouraging. Paul says our goal in all this should be to live in harmony with our fellow believers because our number 1 priority in life is to bring glory to God our Father. And to do that we need to be unified and together, even though we might not agree on every detail.
