(1/4) After 8 seasons and hundreds of stories, I'm stepping off the @WashMystics beat. It was entirely my decision, and I'm staying on at @TheIXSports as managing editor and Ivy League beat reporter.
Mystics fans, there is an incredible successor lined up (TBA), so don't worry!
ALT Me talking to then-Mystics head coach Mike Thibault before a home game during the 2019 WNBA Finals. Back then, we didn't have pregame press conferences, just scrums or courtside conversations like this.

Harmoni Turner in Landerneau’s clutch OT win over Charnay:
27 PTS❗️(led team)
7 REBS
5 ASTS (1 TO)
2 STLS
5-10 on 2s
5-13 on 3s
4-4 on FTs
Scored or assisted on 18 of Landerneau’s 30 pts in the 4th/OT. If you doubted it before, know she’s ready for the WNBA
Columbia head coach and alum Megan Griffith will be suspended for the Lions' first 3 games this season after a review of her conduct found fault with some of her behavior in practices in past seasons. For @TheIXSports, here's what we know. #NCAAWBB

Mallory Swanson just scored her first goal since becoming a mom in the United States' second game of the series against Spain. It's 2-2 with just a few minutes left. @TheIXSports
A loss to defending world champion Spain was the headline, but more quietly, Saturday’s game for the @USWNT was about the moms. For @TheIXSports, here’s what went wrong and how Crystal Dunn, Sophia Wilson and Mallory Swanson all made their marks.

Former @PrincetonWSoc star Pietra Tordin is making her @USWNT debut against world No. 1 Spain tonight. She just subbed in for Ashley Sanchez in the 80th minute in Chester, Pennsylvania. @TheIXSports
(1/2) A source tells @TheIXSports that Dartmouth senior guard Alexandra Eldredge is in the portal as a graduate transfer for 2027-28. She's the 13th Ivy League senior in the portal for next year as a result of the new 5-in-5 rule, and more are expected to enter. #NCAAWBB
(2/2) Last season, Eldredge started all 26 games she appeared in. She averaged 7.8 points, 2.7 rebounds and 1.5 assists in 28.8 minutes per game. @TheIXSports #NCAAWBB

(3/4) Thank you:
-Mystics past and present for your time and the relationships we developed.
-@howardmegdal for believing in me and giving a rookie such a big opportunity.
-@kareemcopeland and @theTylerByrum for being such steadfast friends on the beat and beyond.
(4/4) I could go on, but I don't want to make this longer or more self-indulgent than it already is. I just want to tell people what's changing rather than disappearing from the beat.
I've got lots more work to do, just on new topics. I hope you'll keep following @TheIXSports.
ALT Me interviewing former Mystic Emma Meesseman in 2022, when she returned to the Entertainment and Sports Arena as a member of the Chicago Sky.
(2/4) I loved my time covering the Mystics, but as the WNBA schedule expands, my commitments are becoming increasingly unsustainable. I still expect to cover the W occasionally, but I look forward to branching out next summer and trying new things.

(1/2) This winter, @WashMystics rookie Angela Dugalić will play for the Serbian team KKŽ Crvena Zvezda, which is led by Serbian national team coach Marina Maljković.
Dugalić was born in the U.S. but represents Serbia. You can read about the Dugalić family's story @TheIXSports.
(2/2) Here's that story from September, on how Angela Dugalić's parents came to the U.S., Angela became a world-class basketball player, and Angela decided to play for Serbia. @TheIXSports

Media day is Thursday. I'll have a full preview later this month @TheIXSports. 🥳
In August, @WashMystics rookie Georgia Amoore wondered, “What is wrong with me?”
She endured an up-and-down season coming off a torn ACL. But she played all 46 games and hit her stride in the final month.
Now, she wants more. Read more @TheIXSports:

Two current or former @IvyLeague WBB head coaches are on this list: Carla Berube (Northwestern, formerly Princeton) and Mike McLaughlin (Penn). @TheIXSports #NCAAWBB
🚨: Here are the 25 winningest active head coaches in women’s college basketball entering the 2026–27 season.
Geno Auriemma leads the list with a .886 career winning percentage, followed by Kim Mulkey (.858) and Molly Miller (.829).
The list includes active Division I head coaches with a minimum of five years as a Division I head coach, with career records from four-year colleges only.
A source confirms to @TheIXSports that all these players are in the portal as graduate transfers for 2027-28. They're all seniors now, and the Ivy League doesn't allow grad students to play. So with the new 5 in 5 eligibility rule, they all have another year to take elsewhere.

The @WashMystics strove to stay joyful through the ups and downs of a full season. But that goal gets harder in the playoffs, when a loss can be season-ending.

Washington Mystics center Shakira Austin and guard Sonia Citron each got one vote for #WNBA Defensive Player of the Year. Atlanta Dream forward Angel Reese won the award with 46 of the 74 votes, and Golden State Valkyries forward Gabby Williams was second with 20. @TheIXSports
