I was able to drastically lower my grok bot usage just by asking it what it had decided to do on a recurring basis and adjusting frequency (and flat out killing some tasks). I was honestly surprised what it had taken upon itself to do based on just random conversation with me.
I'm happy to pay more if I need to because I still get a solid ROI from it, but this is still very welcome to see.

More human. Less Human. that's my new model for integrating AI into services businesses (to benefit the customer).
Some of the functions of your company should be done only by agents. HUMANS ARE BANNED.
Others, if you use it, i'll kick you in the nuts.
Sommelier vs Waiter is one way to think about this.

Trying to figure out how to explain to teenagers that this is the only thing that matters
Days sure seem longer when you start your first call at 4am, but if that's the need, that's when I'll be awake.
Now though it's time to shut the laptop and relax for a bit. Pizza and a bottle of wine and a movie is on the menu when my wife gets home in a couple hours.

"A very mild and reasonable proposal" to instantly (and in some cases retroactively) seize 5% of the wealth of billionaires regardless of how liquid it is
People have lost their minds.
You just spent $33 million to defeat a democratic vote in California on a very mild and reasonable proposal to apply a one-off tax of 5% on billionaires who can well afford to pay it, given you all currently pay a far lower effective tax rate than the rest of us. You and your fellow ultra-rich between you spent $400 million on this campaign - the largest sum ever spent by one side in a US ballot initiative or midterm election.
What you and the other billionaires bought with that $400 million was 'an extraordinary array of schemes to manipulate the vote' as @gabriel_zucman puts it. As he describes in the thread below 👇🏼, what you and the other billionaires did to sabotage this puny 5% tax on wealth is 'staggering'.
So don't come to us the day after that proposal got voted down thanks to that $400 million campaign with whimsical musings about the health of US democracy.
You know as well as the rest of us do that to talk of healthy democracies in societies where extreme wealth buys extreme political power is fanciful.

Start a business, and everyone asks for your backup plan.
Depend on one job, and nobody does.
All in all this is much more reasonable than I expected.
The governor-elect of Texas, Gina Hinojosa, has explicitly said that all currently permitted datacenters in Texas will be allowed to finish construction. This essentially covers all of the 2027 and likely well into 2028.
She is going to pass laws that ensure that all *newly* permitted datacenters going forward for delivery in 2028/2029 will pay taxes, commit to no increase in power prices for consumers, don’t impact water availability for people, be constructed with union labor and give “Texans a seat at the table.”
Sounds reasonable. She doesn’t want to lose a lot of good blue collar jobs and property taxes for small towns in rural Texas.
Datacenter commentary starts at 6:30 in this interview.
Also attaching her official campaign position from her website in the next post.
Sidenote: After watching a bunch of her speeches and interviews, I do think she is a political talent and probably has a future in national politics.

People who ghosted me six years ago are now reaching out for help (jobs, investing, advice)
I could ignore them. But I know that eventually, I'll be the one reaching out to them.
You never know which side of the table you'll be on next.
The only winning strategy is the long game: be kind and generous.

Entra ID Protection now flags suspicious sign-in methods added to user accounts. Attackers who phish a session often register their own MFA method to stay in. Catching that is another detection only in Entra ID P2. Still on P1? The gap keeps growing.
I've used OpenAI dots pretty heavily since the day after launch but I started trying out Grok @bot last week and I gotta say, it's very rapidly winning me over. Multiple bots with specialized tasks are a killer feature, it's generally snappier and more responsive, and the back and forth in chat is superior.

Back in the day, we did a phishing test with a client who had recently removed free soda as an employee benefit. One of the things that our phishing email asked employees to log in and fill a survey about was if they would like to see free sodas returned to the workplace.
The employees were so excited by the phishing email that they forwarded it around to each other to ensure that everybody got a copy and could log in and fill it out.
Needless to say, the client was furious, and we all learned a very valuable lesson about running the content of the phishing emails by the client and their corporate communications team before sending it to their employees.

Dumb phones have been a thing for awhile but dumb tech in general is gonna be so big. High quality hardware just without the BS.
Dumb tv (literal only requirement - doesn’t have a mic to spy on you)
Dumb thermostats and home security. My locks are NOT connected to wifi.
Old cars or futuristic, luxurious, drive for you cars absolutely no inbtwn BS like that BMW that was showing Spider-Man ads lol
Other themes: smart but local. Runs on device or on your own network.
Everything in the middle is gonna get absolutely crushed in the future.
