Four Pitchers. Just what the Nationals need!
Jack Cebert is the only arm from this group that projects to be a starter. He has been on fire since the All-Start break and now holds a 4.03 ERA, 27.4% K%, and 7.1% BB% this season. His arsenal consists of 5 pitches, including a trio of fastballs, a big sweeping slider, and a two-plane curveball. He consistently throws strikes with each of his fastballs while his breaking balls efficiently put away opposing batters.
Jake Bird is a low-slot righty reliever that has not lived up to expectation since he was acquired from the Rockies last season. He has great spin capacity and strong breaking balls but he has struggled to generate chases this season
Ben Grable was arguably the best RP prospect in the Yankees system. He was drafted in the 11th round last season and is posting a 2.45 ERA with a 31.5 K-BB%. His arsenal features a high-riding fastball that can hit 99 mph and a tight sweeping slider. Both offerings are yielding whiff rates about 30% and have excelled at inducing weak contact
Yovanny Cruz made a handful of outings with the Yankees, but has spent most of this season in AAA. He sits triple digits with his fastball and pairs it with a hard bullet slider and sporadic splitter. I viewed him a potential future closer in New York and he will now get the chance to flex his talents in Washington. His data looks excellent!

Luis García Jr. on his time as a National:
"A lot of great memories. A lot of great moments over my tenure here with with the Nationals, and all I can say is that I love this organization. I love my teammates, the clubhouse, the coaches, staff, everyone."

The Nats have a dev system making visually apparent strides, Wood/Abrams playing like superstars, the Gore trade looking like a raging success, and the best offense in baseball. They enter the All Star Break ~10 wins ahead of their expected pace.
Wild and Unequivocal success.

James Wood is my sweet son. He's Intelligent, kind, funny, and a hell of baseball player. James Woods with an "s" is an actor and a different sort of fella altogether. Felt like that was important to say right about now. Sure wish others were as careful about spelling as I am.

Same goes for Butera. He and his staff get the lion's share of the credit for the success this team has had so far. As far as his in-game decisions, he's playing poker with a deck full of 2's. I don't know what else he's supposed to do.

I am floored that anyone is getting mad at Toboni for the state of the bullpen right now. This team did not make a single win-now move all offseason. They were rebuilding. But now that they're exceeding expectations (thanks to him and Butera), it's his fault for not spending?

Eli Willits has taken his promotion to Hi-A in stride with a 1.106 OPS and 5 HR through is first 11 games
He is exhibiting exceptional plate discipline skills, above-average contact rates, and an impressive pull-air approach. Willits has #1 Prospect potential!
