langdon and mel now FORCED to get together so they're legally distinct from mark and susan
An appeals court ruled that “The Pitt” is similar enough to “ER” to allow Michael Crichton’s widow to pursue a lawsuit over the Emmy-winning show.
The appeals court did dismiss a claim against key creators of the show — Noah Wyle, John Wells and R. Scott Gemmill — finding no evidence that they were aware they could be violating Crichton’s contractual rights.
“There are clear and numerous similarities between ‘The Pitt’ and ‘ER,” the court ruled, citing the emergency room setting, the fast pace, the medical jargon, the graphic depictions of injuries, and a young, incompetent doctor fresh from medical school. “We find the details here suffice for a prima facie case.”

Readers added context they thought people might want to know
The lawsuit isn’t based solely on similarities between the shows. The Pitt emerged after negotiations for an ER revival fell apart, which would have seen Noah Wyle reprise his role as Dr. John Carter.

franks character is so interesting to me because he is literally the Perfect Guy at first. hes the best resident, best husband, father, best looking, etc. it seems like he has the life that everyone around him strives for. but he doesn’t. because it is impossible for someone to+
heavy on the merder kingdon tether because why can I see mel being franks breath of fresh air because im sure when he came back he felt like he was drowning, but mel saved him by showing him compassion and being so happy that frank came back 😭
forever obsessed with the concept of mel being a breath of fresh air but it reminds him of how his marriage used to be. he can joke around and open up to mel while at home it’s most likely walking on eggshells. seeing mel is the best part of his day. he’d always go to work if it meant to see her. she brings the light out that he had locked away. she’s like abby who’s probably nurturing but he needs someone who sees him and someone who he can want to understand. it’s like the universe is giving him a second chance while it’s giving mel her first real chance to live for herself.
