I’m not much of a live laugh love person so long term nuclear waste warning messages it is
Come for the stream, stay for my increasingly unhinged messages to backseaters

I wound up with the Mac from the Jayhawk room. I’ve imaged the drive and have it running in an emulator. If you have a kiddo who misses that Mac, stay tuned—I’m going to make the image and emulator available.
RIP, Hilltop. You deserved better. This is heartbreaking.

This is not a weird cat. This is clearly a just a little baby who needs pets and Churu.
New cat alert! A call from a wildlife sanctuary about a "weird cat" has led to the first new cat species discovered in over 100 years in Bolivia’s Yungas forest ecoregion. Learn more about this feline surprise: on.natgeo.com/JRuaGj

Look, picking between nano or vim isn't just an editor preference. I have a theory that it tells me what kind of person you are.
nano users:
- get promoted at work for being "easy to work with"
- spend a considerable amount of time working on improving their LinkedIn headline
- write documentation
- likely have a plant on their desk
- cook from a recipe
- have a partner that knows what they do for a living
- have more IRL friends than online
- write dates like Sept 16, 2026
- have hobbies
vim users:
- have job stability because no one else knows how to keep the legacy servers running
- spend a considerable amount of time working on improving their terminal settings (zsh ftw btw)
- don't read documentation
- likely have a mechanical keyboard on their desk
- cook from memory or feel
- have a partner that just thinks you "do computers" for a living
- have more online friends than IRL
- only uses ISO 8601 date format
- have a hobby

MIT published a brutally honest report on what AI is doing to students.
A committee of professors and students spent five months studying how AI changed learning on campus, and the findings read like a warning to every university on the planet.
Study groups are disappearing. Office hours are emptying out. Problem sets and take-home exams no longer prove anything, because AI can produce credible solutions to almost any written assignment in the undergraduate curriculum. Students who lean on chatbots lose mastery and confidence, and some slip into what the report calls cognitive surrender, reaching for AI at the first hint of struggle.
The numbers are rough. 46 percent of surveyed MIT undergrads use LLMs daily. 90 percent worry about their own overreliance. Undergrads who feel AI makes them replaceable now outnumber those who feel it makes them capable.
The committee's answer surprised me. They refused to fight AI with surveillance. The report calls AI detectors unreliable, says lockdown browsers feel like spying, and warns that policing students builds a classroom atmosphere of mutual distrust.
Instead, MIT wants to rebuild education around the things AI can't replace. That means oral exams, semester portfolios, in-person project work, and a required social component in every subject. The report even floats the idea of rethinking grades entirely, since without a GPA to optimize, much of the incentive to cheat with AI evaporates.
The committee warns professors against replacing undergrad research assistants with AI agents just because they're cheaper, because a university exists to grow people, not output.
The most famous tech school on earth admitted the machines broke its way of teaching. Its answer is more humans, not more software.
Sounds about right

The University of Missouri refused to play @uiowa because we had a black guy on our team. In response, Iowa refused to play Missouri for the next 100 years.

Show this to anyone whining about the Civil War references in KU’s hype video: the infamous Missouri “scoreboard” fan tshirt.
Mizzou fans proud to claim the 1863 “Lawrence Massacre” — when Confederate guerrillas launched a brutal dawn attack on the abolitionist city, trying to burn it to the ground because of Kansas’ anti-slavery resistance.
(KU remembers, too — John Brown is a regular feature at KU games as well as all over town and campus).
Y’all remember my manic Algeria / Lawrence, Kansas World Cup posts? I told you the legacy of John Brown, the Civil War, and anti-racist solidarity is deeply embedded in local culture.
It’s just the most obvious when KU plays Missouri.

“…weird about it.” Okay, Jan
Replying to @JoeyVZ_
Drinkwitz was asked “how bad he wants the rivalry to continue”
“I don't really care if it continues or not. I mean, if they're going to be weird about it, then what's the point?”
Tell me you don’t understand the history of the rivalry without telling me you don’t understand the history of the rivalry. Being a sore winner isn’t the look you think it is 😂🙄
#Mizzou’s Eli Drinkwitz strongly calls out this video from Kansas. Calls it an embarrassing and bizarre message.
“I thought that was uncalled for.”

These are the original Jayhawkers, after executing a daring jailbreak in the slave state of Missouri. They rescued an Underground Railroad leader who was imprisoned by pro-slavery forces for helping slaves escape to freedom.
