"Thanks to 'Escaping Venezuela,' we now have a bracing visual account of the impact of [socialist] rhetoric on the people whose livelihoods were destroyed by it."

Terrific comedian wholly out of his depth. I remember when he took on charter schools and was spectacularly wrong and ill-informed. When someone screws up a topic you know well, you assume--or should--that they're equally wrong about subjects you don't know.
HBO's @LastWeekTonight has a long track record of citing social science findings without the appropriate context, massaging them to support whatever point @iamjohnoliver is trying to make.

It was an inauspicious sign for American politics when people started treating comedians as policy experts.

What does social media look like when the government controls the airwaves?
In Venezuela, it became a lifeline to reliable information.
@jimepstein explains how Venezuelans used social platforms, VPNs, and other online tools to keep information moving as traditional media was censored.
New Yorkers don't compost. Will they be fined into compliance?
NYC tried to make composting 'sexy.' It's not working.
The city mandates composting, but New Yorkers don’t like to be told what to do with their garbage—and don't seem all that clear on the rules in the first place.
Thank you for having me! I really enjoyed this conversation.

ESCAPING VENEZUELA conclusively documents how Socialist mismanagement & corruption ruined each successive industry it nationalized, while personalizing the resulting stagnation & misery through the POV of a Venezuelan family. @EpochInspired review: theepochtimes.com/bright/esc…
"'Escaping Venezuela' delivers such a calmly rational, step-by-step analysis of how socialist policies directly led to Venezuela’s dire woes that it ought to become the go-to documentary for understanding the Chavist chaos."

Venezuelan forces killed at least 6,856 people in just one 18 mo. period, claiming most died 'resisting arrest.'
Same reason the Southern Cone military dictatorship often gave for executions.
Interesting how few on the left recognized it, then or now.
