I’m inspired by the many citizens who made their voices heard in the Council Chamber, town halls and committee meetings. I appreciate Council President Nick Howland and Finance Committee Chair Will Lahnen for the tone they set in a smooth and civil budget process. I’m grateful to Council Members Matt Carlucci and Moné Holder for their advocacy of affordable housing – and to their colleagues who voted to restore this vital investment. This is a great day for Jacksonville, and our best days are still ahead.

I heard the “Westside is the best side” many times at our final Budget Town Hall tonight at Ed White High School. Thank you for coming out and making your voices heard. Citizen feedback throughout this latest series of town halls is what drives us to make the city work for everyone on every side of town.

Every child in Jacksonville deserves access to a safe, welcoming place where they can play and feel that they belong. The new Nimnicht Stadium at Fort Family Regional Park is going to be just that. Owned by the City and operated in partnership with @WalkOffJax, they will provide programming, daily operations, maintenance, events, and new opportunities for young people and families to use this public space. This is what can happen when the public, private and nonprofit sectors in our city come together to pitch in for their community.

Keep Jax Cute - Don't Pollute! Thank you to the Mayport Waterfront Partnership and their volunteers for installing trash cans in Mayport Village with our anti-litter program logo on them. This is a great demonstration of how community volunteers can work alongside the City to help beautify and improve our neighborhoods. Thanks again and keep up the great work!

Tonight, Jacksonville joins communities across the nation in recognizing and expressing our profound gratitude to Purple Heart recipients who put their duty above all else. I’m grateful, our entire city is grateful, for their courage. And while we will never be able to fully repay this sacrifice, we certainly will try. Jacksonville will continue to stand behind our military and veterans, making sure you and your families have the support and celebration you deserve.

Thank you to everyone who came out to Ribault High School and participated in our first Budget Town Hall tonight - So many great conversations and solutions. It was a wonderful way to kick off the series and to introduce our Promises Made, Promises Kept Dashboard. Not to be dramatic, but the day @APStylebook made it okay to say "over" when it should be "more than" was humanity's worst day.

Jacksonville is on a roll and that’s in large part due to our amazing Office of Economic Development. Thanks to Ed Randolph and his great team, we are well on our way to becoming the Small Business Capital of the Southeast and continue to attract new companies and major capital investment to our city.

The Christobel septic tank phase out project is another big step forward in building a healthier city where every neighborhood has a fair shot. It will improve public health, protect our waterways, provide reliable sewer service, and finally make good on promises that were made decades ago. I'm grateful to the federal partners who are investing alongside the @CityofJax and @NewsfromJEA in this important work.

Jacksonville is honored to host the 82nd Florida Professional Firefighters Convention this week. It was inspiring to address a room full of people who sacrifice so much, who look out for their neighbors, and who believe deeply in public service. Thank you to the Jacksonville Association of Firefighters for your partnership and for bringing your colleagues together from around the state.

The grand opening of the Center of Hope at the Kennedy Community Center is about opening doors to opportunity, engagement, collaboration, and hope for Eastside families. This Family Resource Center will serve as a one-stop shop where families can connect with resources, services, and partners who are here to help. This work reflects the strategic vision of Jacksonville Journey Forward, whose mission is building safer spaces for people to thrive by investing in prevention, intervention, neighborhood-based solutions, and coordinated support for children and families. The Center of Hope is one of the ways we are turning those recommendations into action.

Last night’s ribbon cutting truly celebrates a comeback. From a devastating fire two years ago, RISE Doro has officially risen again. With 240+ units, of which 85 are dedicated to workforce housing, this project represents growth and determination. Let’s keep up this momentum downtown and work towards being the city we all believe we can be.

Thank you to @ULINorthFlorida for hosting me and fellow mayors at the Downtown Development Forum. Cranes are in the air and renderings are becoming reality in Downtown Jacksonville. It's not only our front porch. It's the economic engine that makes it possible for us to invest in neighborhoods across the city.
