Emma Navarro shares that she’s been struggling with a condition called RED-S (Relative Energy Deficiency in Sport) as well as Hashimoto’s hypothyroidism.
In her full IG post, she opens up about the struggles she’s faced for 3 years.
“So yeah. I gained some weight this year. But I also gained my life back. I have enough energy to seize every day, to train or compete as hard as I want to, and to live a life outside of tennis. To laugh, to be curious, to be spontaneous, to spend time with the people I care about, to feel joy, hope and positivity, and to appreciate the incredible gift of life. And I have learned that there is no weight on the scale or leanness in your limbs that is more valuable than your health or your well-being.
All that being said, I am taking the rest of this year to work on dialing in my medication and fueling protocols so that I can hopefully feel back to 100% again. I will not be competing in Asia this year, but I plan to be back on the road starting in Australia 2027.”
You never know what someone’s going through… big respect to her for navigating all of this with strength and with the right priorities. Health and happiness always come first.
Keep going, Emma. ❤️
One of my favorite events on tour. 40 years of incredible volunteers and the Midland community coming together to create something so special. It was always more than just a tournament to me. Midland became my second home ❤️🩹
End of an era

I’ve been saying for years now that North Carolina is a great place to grow tennis and for more events to be played in this state! Hope for a bigger Carolina swing pre or post Charleston
Big news for US tennis fans in a hotbed for the game
The WTA Finals will be held in Charlotte, North Carolina from 2027 to 2029, anchoring the tour's year-end championships in the USA for the next 4 years (this year, it was moved from Saudi Arabia to Indian Wells)
Some needed stability and the WTA also plans to relocate its global headquarters to Charlotte from St. Petersburg, Fla..
The Finals, traditionally held over 7 or 8 days, are expected to be reduced to 5 in Charlotte
Charlotte also will have an opportunity from 2030 to host a new WTA 500 event as part of the deal

Dane Sweeny’s sister, Emma, shared an incredibly moving post:
“For my little brother, it has never been about the money. If it was, he probably would have given up years ago.
“A few years ago, Dane had a GoFundMe set up just to help him continue pursuing his tennis career. My parents haven’t come from money, but they have sacrificed and given everything they possibly could to keep his dream alive.
“Dane couldn’t afford a proper coach until this year. For all those years, my dad was his coach. Dad had never played tennis himself, but he sold his business for peanuts, gave up so much and did everything he could because he believed in his son and his dream.
“Dane has been playing tennis since he was two years old. Just over a year ago, he was around No.680 in the world. Today he is No.109.
“So when I see a post about the prize money, I don’t really see the money. I see 22 years of chasing a dream. The sacrifices. The setbacks. The financial stress, and a kid who just never stopped believing he could do it.
“Such a reminder to never stop chasing your dreams, no matter how impossible they might feel.
“This is only the beginning, Dane 😭❤️🎾🇦🇺”
This is what qualifying means to players.
Players coming back from injury, taking time away, playing their first tournament, or simply fighting their way back. There’s so much behind every match. That’s why this is the best week of the tournament to watch tennis up close

Hi! So coming from someone that plays in sunglasses, it’s actually really tricky when it’s overcast. There is still a glare that comes in and if you have sensitive eyes (like myself and maybe Maya), you will be squinting
