BRITISH SHIPBUILDING: Babcock is creating more than 1,000 new jobs and apprenticeships at its advanced manufacturing and shipbuilding site in Rosyth.
The new job opportunities include 400 apprenticeships, 350 production support operatives, skilled engineers, tradespeople, and graduates. The roles will support programmes like the Type 31 frigate design and build programme.
Babcock’s latest recruits will join a state-of-the-art advanced manufacturing and digitally enabled facility that in recent decades has seen investment of more than £200 million.
The first of the Royal Navy’s new Type 31 frigates, HMS Venturer, is swiftly taking shape in Rosyth. The warship’s progress has been remarkable, with significant development made in less than 24 months since its keel was laid.
The second ship in the programme, HMS Active, is emerging alongside HMS Venturer, with the double bottom blocks in-situ and the first hull blocks under construction.
The ships are being constructed side-by-side at Babcock's new assembly hall - the Venturer Building - at its Rosyth dockyard on the Firth of Forth. #UKmfg🇬🇧
