These are tricky times but your voice does not need company. If you want to resist don’t burn energy recruiting choirs from those whose ambition drowns out their conscience. No one should silence those who speak. Equally, critics must not harangue those who will choose silence.

One of the hills I’m willing to die on is that African countries need to look more at countries like Brazil, Mexico, Cuba and even the Indian state of Kerala when designing their health care and social protection systems.. and avoid mimicking the West ..🤔🤔

Kenyan politicians introducing /launching something that has always existed is my favourite genre of farce and irrelevance.

It's amazing how many honorary doctorates of letters are being dished out in a country that not just hates humanities - but wages war against them. Have we seen the massacre of arts and humanities being done by CBC? Most senior secondary schools aren't offering them, and those which do are taunting the students as "not academically gifted." #CBCisheretostay
In the news today: Kenya Methodist University’s conferment of Honorary Doctorate (Doctor of Letters) on Chief Justice Martha Koome— set for November 7, 2026.

People ask me why I write. I write to unpack a thought, and finish it…. to clear my head for the next flood of contemplations— which will also need some arranging…in writing.

Every time I remember the argument that a man who studied at local public universities and educated his children locally would be the one to save our higher education sector, I choke on laughter and tears simultaneously. A vampire has no fond past, it lives for the best swallow.

If we accept the blurred lines between the fighter and the fought, we must revisit the gap between the needs we place in the wagons we hitch, and the star on which we hitch those wagons.

It is misleading for holders of honorary doctorate degrees to use the title “Dr” which is exclusively reserved for holders of earned doctoral degrees and medical doctors.

In 6 months time, that pool will have tadpoles/frogs. It's unsustainable. How much of service charge for lifts, security lights, garbage, compound cleaning, pool disinfection....shared amenities.

Well, well, well.🤔 This is precisely the crude GSU takeover of private properties adjacent to this State Lodge (including part of Eldoret Club) that DT Moi employed in the 1980s. No notice. Owners were eventually paid less than market-rate value under Compulsory Acquisition.
General Service Unit (GSU) officers have occupied a prime property owned by the family of Kenya’s second President, the late Daniel arap Moi, near the Eldoret State Lodge. The property, registered as Eldoret Municipality/Block 8/62, was invaded Friday afternoon after what those in the know claim was an order from State house to evict current occupants. standardmedia.co.ke/rift-val…

How much land does a State Lodge need? This is the same question that was asked back then.
