Wood is one of the rarest materials in the universe. It’s easy to take for granted the things that seem so commonplace in your tiny world.

I’m not saying don’t innovate, but this approach would help a lot of towns regain their unique character. I’ve owned two houses, one 100+ years old, and the other almost 250 years old. A new build with their charm & quality but modern wiring wouldn’t be too bad.
When building new in an established neighborhood or town there are two simple and relatively fool-proof ways of blending in and avoiding the ire of locals: 1. Build to match the style and size of the oldest existing buildings, or better yet, build something that is close to the actual founding era (real or imagined) of area. 2. Build with local materials. Wood (local or what would have been sourced from outside the are) or earth is almost always acceptable, if stone or brick use only what can be found locally. Don't build with dressed sandstone in a place where everything else is rubble granite. If you can manage both of these your building will after a couple of seasons look like it has always been there. #GoodUrbanism #GoodRuralism

Remember that LLMs have no idea what reality is actually like. They only know how it’s been described.

It’s fascinating how smart LLMs are today, yet so incredibly dumb at the same time. We’re not going to have AGI until they can actually learn by making contact with reality in real time. There will necessarily be a multitude of “AI individuals,” unique due to their real world experiences, not just a handful of mostly-similar models to pick from.

The @Acquisition_Lab intensive accelerator is finishing up this week. I can't believe how much I've changed, learned, and grown this month, and I feel incredibly well prepared to proceed with the entrepreneurship through acquisition route. Thanks to @walkerdeibel & @SMBChelseaWood for putting together this incredible resource. Shoutout to Cohort 69, you guys have been great to launch alongside, and this is only the beginning!

I was studying MCPs and this comment really blew my mind.

Introducing NEO’s 25 Degrees of Freedom, tendon-driven hands — nearing or surpassing human-level dexterity, strength, speed, and reliability. For seventy years, robotics worked around the hand problem. The humanoid bet is the reverse: it lives or dies at the fingertips.

The bullet train nose looks like that because of a kingfisher's beak. When the train exited tunnels at 200mph, the air pressure created sonic booms loud enough to violate noise ordinances. Engineer Eiji Nakatsu (also a birdwatcher) noticed kingfishers dive into water with almost zero splash. Their beaks create minimal resistance. He redesigned the nose based on that geometry. Result: - 10% less electricity - 10% faster - Silent tunnel exits What are you working on that has been done before? Perhaps over 3.8 billion years and innumerable iterations. Biomimicry is the purest form of learning from history.

The wildfire outbreak in the Four Corners Region continues to worsen each day… Several large, intense fires are visible on satellite tonight, including the #AspenAcresFire in Pueblo County, Colorado. It started this morning and has already burned 23,000 acres. #COwx

A day in Manhattan, warped so that distance ≈ drive time. Drive times swell in the morning and evening rush hour, then contract in the night.
