HBO is reportedly in talks with David Fincher to direct a limited sequel series to ‘THE WIRE’, set two decades after the original finale in Baltimore. Production sources state the plot centers on a new generation of detectives tackling modern crime networks.

In training camp, #Commanders coach Dan Quinn praised Jayden Daniels for his control at the line of scrimmage in the new offense. “That's probably the best example of his leadership," he said. Sunday was the worst, in more ways than one. My column washingtontimes.com/news/202…

It seemed inevitable — watching QB Jayden Daniels dragging the overmatched #Commanders up and down the field with his legs to stay in the game against Dallas after falling behind 10-0 in the first 10 minutes — that he would get hurt yet again. My column washingtontimes.com/news/202…

The #Commanders took the ball out of QB Jayden Daniels’ hands and gave him a shovel. Like Tom Brady said, “think about players, not plays” — or else you might find yourself calling the picket fence when Jimmy Chitwood can take the shot. My column. washingtontimes.com/news/202…

Today in 1814, a 35-year-old lawyer named Francis Scott Key watches a British fleet shell Baltimore's Ft McHenry. A poem he writes about how the American flag is illuminated by the bombardment — 'The Star Spangled Banner' — will later be set to music to become the national anthem

One of my favorite baseball memories! Today in 1993: One of the most inspirational games ever. Jim Abbott, born without a right hand, pitches a no-hitter for the Yankees against Cleveland.

#NBA commissioner Adam Silver crushed the Clippers for the Kawhi Leonard salary cap scam. It may be the harshest penalty for a sports team since #MLB named Jim Bowden general manager of the #Nationals after the Expos moved from Montreal in 2004. My column washingtontimes.com/news/202…

“My goodness, that ball went completely out of the stadium." When Frank Robinson hit his home run, Baltimore sportswriter`s Bob Maisel and Lou Hatter followed the ball from the press box, behind home plate, as it went over the fence and then looked at each other and said: "Where the hell did it go?" And then we realized it had gone out of the stadium." Frank Robinson tipped his cap several times during a standing ovation that lasted almost a full minute. "I was a little embarrassed. I had a lump in my throat. It really hit the soft spot." The next week, the Baltimore Orioles would mark the spot Robinson’s ball left the yard with an orange flag labelled simply: "Here." The flag flew until Memorial Stadium closed its doors in 1991. May 21, 1966.
