If you're just starting out in programming, it can be difficult to choose your first programming language. The good news is: it doesn't matter, just pick one! The most important thing isn't the language, but that you just start learning. More on that: bit.ly/pickalang

RIP Noonado, you will be missed.
It has been 13 years since I created this account on a whim, for a laugh. The response it received, and the joy it seemed to create for Oklahomans and non-Oklahomans alike has been wonderful to witness.

My perfect programming language/framework: * Elixir's functional design * Typescript's types * Rails' ActiveRecord for ORM * Ruby's Minitest for tests * Svelte's reactivity model * Javascript's destructuring operators * Go's strict style enforcement Anyone want to make this? 😂

FREELANCE SOFTWARE DEVELOPERS: I just completed a hiring binge for a freelance dev. Here's 5 tips on how to sell yourself and get hired. Some of these tips are obvious, but you'd be surprised how many people make these same mistakes.

5. DON'T ASSUME YOU'VE MADE THE SALE. Until you know you've made the sale, don't discuss future plans down the road. It's like discussing marriage before the first date even happens—it's a big turn off. Make the sale, then at the right time bring up future relationship items.

These tips may seem obvious, but follow them and you will increase your hire conversion and ultimately be able to command a better rate. Also, if you found these tips helpful, a like or retweet goes a long way: xitter.cf/johnmosesman/status/16…

Grammarians of Twitter: "The dog jumps over the log." "The dogs jump over the log." => "The pack of dogs [jump|jumps] over the log." Bonus points for identifying what this "X of Y" structure is called and describing the rule for it.

Hey Rails community a challenge for you: who’s interested in implementing a small interactive frontend interface using the Rails toolkit to compare against a standard React kit? I’d love to see someone good with Hotwire/Stimulus compare their implementation with me.

Thinking a simple (non-styled) interface with lots of dynamic checkboxes, filters, searching, etc. It can stub the request to the backend but don’t have to implement. Guessing it’s a couple hours of work and then a short zoom to discuss. Reply or DM if interested!

One of my more unsettling discoveries about being an adult is how critical my actions are in matters I hoped the experts I was hiring would solve for me (ie medical, legal, home services, etc).

Fun moment for @startupdotdev last week: first in-person all hands here in OKC. Met some of the team for the first or second time in person.

Successful large multi-year-in-the-making updates is one of the big reasons I’m betting on Ethereum’s success
And we finalized! Happy merge all. This is a big moment for the Ethereum ecosystem. Everyone who helped make the merge happen should feel very proud today.
With completion of the Merge one of the big complaints about blockchain tech (energy consumption) gets a big win
"The merge will reduce worldwide electricity consumption by 0.2%" - @drakefjustin
Hey @ouraring, the sp02 update causes the ring battery to die in two days instead of closer to a week. **You broke a two year daily habit with this update.** This product is just a ring now. Fix this, revert it, or make it possible to turn it off. You’ve broken this product.
