With over 30 years of experience in education, I have served as a Board Member at BC Soccer for the last 6 years. My contributions include supporting governance, finance, and risk management while engaging in soccer development initiatives to foster greater community involvement. I am committed to promoting ethics, discipline, player safety, and transparency within the organization.
My career reflects a dedication to education, leadership, and community service. I aim to collaborate with diverse and supportive communities to achieve shared goals that prioritize inclusivity and accountability. My work continues to align with my passion for empowering individuals and enhancing organizational effectiveness.
Governance & Leadership: Current BC Soccer Director with experience in governance, finance/risk, soccer development, and member liaison. Approximately 30 years of volunteer Board service, including Vice-Chair of North Shore Youth Soccer, founding Director of North Vancouver FC, and Secretary of the Canadian
Gaelic Athletic Association.
Professional & Community: Retired educator with extensive leadership and service acrossprovincial education, sport, community organizations, and public advisory bodies.
Soccer: Lifelong player and grassroots coach with experience at club, district, and provincial levels,
including North Vancouver FC, North Shore Youth Soccer, and BC Soccer.

O'Flynn grew up in Vancouver as a son of Irish immigrants and has been a North Shore resident since 2002. Living at Spuraway Gardens in the Cedardale community since 2021, John recently retired as a teacher.
O'Flynn's experiences in meetings, reviewing budgets, setting policies and staying connected with people has always been enjoyable for him.
John is a Board Director with BC Soccer, a West Van FC soccer player and a West Van Pickleball Advisory Roundtable member. He serves on the West Van Awards Committee and is a 'Director-at-Large and Partnerships' with the West Van Historical Society.
Author of 'The History of the Gaelic Athletic Association in Canada' and a former Commissioner for the North Vancouver Museum & Archives, O'Flynn is excited to work with the (2026 - 2030) Mayor, Council and School Trustees to ensure accountability for the decisions to be made and that Community Voices remain heard.
