“I’ve decided that I think it’s best if I’m more involved right now”
-Tom Pohlad, owner of #MNTwins
That’s the problem in one sentence.
The Pohlads created this mess - and now the “best” solution is… more of him??
Delusional rich kids ruined this team.

“If you're focused on long-term growth, it's time to find other growth avenues” beyond client referrals, says @johnwernz. @finplan financial-planning.com/news/…

2 minutes with John Wernz, Partner and Strategic Advisor at Mission Wealth and an Executive in Residence at Great Hill Partners, and Matt Middleton, Founder & CEO of Future Proof, on the end of patchwork marketing and what comes next.
John sees something happening in wealth management he’s never seen in 25 years.
Here's what stands out:
- Marketing is finally becoming end-to-end.
For the first time, firms can run the full lead lifecycle, find, score, route, schedule, and follow up, without stitching together endless point solutions.
- This changes who gets to compete.
Firms that never had the staff, scale, or budget to market effectively can now go direct-to-consumer for the first time.
- Big firms still benefit, but the advantage is shifting.
AI improves outcomes for everyone, but John believes the real leverage is moving to firms without massive marketing teams.
- Personalization is no longer limited by size.
What used to be a handful of segments can now be individualized, every prospect, their own segment.
- Speed has fundamentally changed.
New companies are gaining traction faster than anything John has seen before, from unknown to in-demand in weeks, not years.
Bottom line:
This is a structural shift in how growth happens.
