Just rest” is bad advice for a lot of depressed people because rest without any source of mild positive feedback often makes the anhedonia worse, not better.

Rest doesn’t fix burnout if the moment you return you immediately rebuild the exact same conditions that created it.

You can be depressed and still be avoiding the small actions that would make the depression slightly less severe. Both things can be true.

Flogging a child because of school fees is something I would never understand, like is he supposed to pay by himself, catch the parents and flog them noww.

Anxiety isn’t cured by proving the feared outcome is unlikely. It’s reduced when the nervous system repeatedly experiences that the feared outcome can occur and still be tolerable.
I’m 35 years old, and my wife is 31. We’ve been married for 4 years and have two children.
Since we got married, I’ve always paid the rent, school fees, electricity bills, and almost every household expense.
My wife also works, but she uses her salary to support her younger siblings and send money to her parents.
Last month, I suggested that we should start saving together for a house. I told her we could contribute a certain amount every month.
She got upset and said that as the man of the house, I should be responsible for everything while she decides what to do with her own money.
I reminded her that our children are growing and we need to plan for their future.
She then said that if I wanted a wife who would contribute to household expenses, I should have married a poor woman who needed my money.
That statement really hurt me.
Now I’m considering opening a separate savings account and focusing on my own financial future.
My friends say I’m being selfish because I’m the husband and provider.
Please, is it wrong for a married man to expect his wife to contribute financially when she earns her own money?
