With minority government looking more likely, Greens supporters need to think deeply about how we guard against our MPs being corrupted and co-opted by power.

There's some pretty good stuff in the Budget, but nothing really for housing.
One of the biggest issues Australians face is going to need more than just tinkering around the edges.
We need real change.

Hamas offered to return all hostages for a permanent truce. Now Israel is carpet bombing instead of allowing the second stage of the ceasefire to continue as promised. The death toll in less than 24 hours is 419 and counting. The goal was always mass extermination.
Quick reminder that one of the main reasons Peter Dutton is launching a crusade against working from home is that inner-city commercial landlords don't want to lower their rents.
Here's a new article highlighting the factual reality that no, the Greens have NOT blocked Labor bills in the past term of #auspol, but arguing that they probably DO need to start blocking if we want to stop the world burning.

Note that I'm more likely to reply if you leave comments directly on the article itself, as I don't use this platform much anymore.

Calling someone white is not racism. Racially profiling a brown woman is. Hope that helps x
Here's boarding house floor plan in Brissie's West End. Dodgy fixtures, infestations, small bathrooms/kitchens + no control over who you share with...
I've written a short article (link below) to explain why rough sleepers sometimes decline offers of housing in places like this.
There's a revolving door between people who stay in places like this, take a break on the street where they feel comparatively safer and calmer, then return when the police harassment or severe weather gets too much.

Based on current zoning in the city plan, southern Woolloongabba might soon become one of the most densely-inhabited neighbourhoods in Brisbane, but it's also extremely floodprone.

We can't predict when wild weather will strike, but we CAN predict that the LNP's ongoing denialism about the harsh realities of global warming will contribute to increased risks of severe weather.

Does any1 know any1 who could offer a reasonably accurate estimate for how much it would cost QLD to pull out of hosting the 2032 Olympics? The contracts are secret, and I presume a key variable would be how expensive it is for IOC to find a replacement. But what's the ballpark?
For anyone still using this platform who hasn't been brainwashed into conservativism and xenophobia, here's a long article unpacking the @AusGreensParty's current strategic approach (and suggesting some changes).

We captured the BIG MOMENTS LAST WEEK when I kicked Adani's butt in the Supreme Court.
BUT after 4+ years Adani think they can win just by outlasting me financially and have 28 days to appeal. Help me finish them off and WIN👇🏼

My hiphop/folk band Rivermouth just released a new track (listen/download via Bandcamp). No, these lyrics are not a policy statement or legislative proposal - they're simply a reflection of growing frustration in our communities where thousands of renters are becoming desperate.

Still working through some ideas with this one, but very interested in people's initial thoughts/reactions (please don't comment until you've actually read the article)

Recently I sat down for a 30-minute discussion with Remah Naji, the Palestinian-Australian mum who's running for the federal seat of Moreton in next year's election (and who actually has a pretty good shot of winning) - you can read the transcript or listen to the audio...
