On AI for lesson plans. I tried to use ChatGPT to make a cover lesson for Anita and Me because I was ill. ChatGPT made the lesson plan. However. ChatGPT couldn’t access Anita and Me so *it made up the story*

Oracy in action: DVI on the word façade today. During the lesson, I dealt with some children behaving like utter melons. As I walked back to my desk, one of the girls gave me a nod and said “Nice façade, Miss”. Accurate 😂😂😂

Things I do to “work on” oracy: Questioning DVI Whole sentence answers Requests for “the fancy word for that” Reading aloud No hands up/sometimes hands up for specific reasons Choral repetition Because… Every student speaking at least once It is not separate from just teaching

Teach them the things. Teach them the words to talk about the things. Talk about the things. Write about the things. /fin

Reposting this as it appears to be relevant <again>

I love students talking in lessons. Using vocabulary they have learned. Giving opinions, justifying their thoughts about literature. However… I do not want an Oracy Policy foisted on me. I do not want to be told how to do it and I definitely do not want it measured or assessed.

Absolute *scenes* with Y10 today during the killing of King Duncan. “Is he man enough now, Lady Macbeth? IS HE?” They’re very personally invested 😍😂😂😂 Silent entry. Teacher led. Routines. Absolute *joy*.

I have some questions about the pedagogy being taught on PGCE courses. Are there any tutors who could answer them? I want to know if our PGCE student’s experience is common or an anomaly.

My laptop and therefore my visualiser crashed mid lesson for the third time in a week. My beautiful Y10 group sat silently and waited whilst three of them coached me through using the board as a whiteboard so I could carry on co constructing an answer. I ❤️ them. Really very.

Me: the Cornell case has exposed misogyny on the internet. Replies: It wasn’t rape! Fuck off! Keep your legs closed, women! Here’s why you’re wrong! Don’t “ovary react” (I like a pun, but this is too close to “hysterical woman” to get any points.

The narratives online about the Cornell civil prosecution are just awful. So many people gleefully throwing themselves into the darkest, vilest misogyny. It’s just below the surface for so many. Consent is precious.

Secondary colleagues- what is your lateness to lesson policy? It’s for a thing. Please retweet 🥰

Live modelling answers, with narration of what we are thinking- including “wrong” bits of thinking - that move between “I do” and “we do” is so powerful. I think it’s where I see the strongest, most sticky progress.

This week has been a lot, for many reasons. But then, at the end of a particularly large and unwieldy Friday, two year 7s came to find me after they got their phones back so they could show me pictures of their pets 🥰

Classroom teachers, secondary: how often, on average, are your lessons disturbed by latecomers/corridor nonsense/children been delivered by staff etc?

I am enjoying a lake arguing on X 😂

Dolly Parton has died. Her music 😍😍😍 And this: imaginationlibrary.com What. A. Woman.
