St Chad ( - 672) He became abbot of Lastingham and was chosen to be bishop of Northumbria, but St Wilfrid contested his appointment, and Chad obediently withdrew. He was then sent as bishop to Mercia, where he founded the see of Lichfield. His ministry there was very short (he died at Lichfield on 2 March 672), but he was immediately revered as a saint because of the holiness of his life, his outstanding humility, and his dedication to preaching of the Gospel.

Still horrorified by the plight of Ukraine children:" CardinalZuppi—have been able to accomplish. Despite continued offers to serve as a mediator or meeting place for Russia and Ukraine to discuss peace, the Vatican’s primary achievements in the conflict have been the delivery of various types of aid, the return of Ukrainian children to their parents and the exchanges of prisoners, although the numbers are difficult to quantify or to attribute exclusively to the Vatican, as it cooperates with other nations and organizations"

For your thoughts/prayers: Theologian Massimo Faggioli said that bishops in any modern democracy should not appear to bless partisan politics, and said that it was even "more egregious" that some bishops posed with Trump, given his clashes with Pope Leo XIV and other church leaders in recent months."It reminds me of what Pope Francis said about Patriarch Kirill of Moscow," Faggioli said, referring to a statement Francis made in 2022, when he warned the Russian Orthodox patriarch not to become "Putin's altar boy."

In reflecting on the day, I remembered that we are guided/directed to transform my life and the life of others as I leave the Church. What is it about Church that prepares me to transform? What words or phrases or parts of the Mass help me to make that transformation every time I am at Mass? Being a Catholic is challenging and I (we) need to take that challenge seriously. Also smile as you go to Mass it is a joy to be there, reflect on the transformation. @StClement @HolyNameChicago @archchicago

St. John Paul II:As an extension of his successful work with youth as a young priest, John Paul II pioneered the international World Youth Days. John Paul II presided over nine of them: Rome (1985 and 2000), Buenos Aires (1987), Santiago de Compostela (1989), Częstochowa (1991), Denver (1993), Manila (1995), Paris (1997), and Toronto (2002). Total attendance at these signature events of the pontificate was in the tens of millions.John Paul II said in Ireland that: "I believe in youth with all my heart and with all the strength of my conviction." When he visited New York City, he was given a T-shirt, a pair of jeans, a guitar and medal on a chain, symbols associated with a modern, American young adulthood.

Pope Leo: “For this reason, placing the witness of a saint within the context in which he or she lived is very important. The people of God seek models for living in the present, intercessors who help members of the Church face today’s challenges and recognize their opportunities.”

Saint John Paul II (1920)Karol Józef Wojtyła was born in 1920 in Wadowice, Poland. After his ordination to the priesthood and theological studies in Rome, he returned to his homeland and resumed various pastoral and academic tasks. He became first auxiliary bishop and, in 1964, Archbishop of Kraków and took part in the Second Vatican Council. On 16 October 1978 he was elected pope and took the name John Paul II. His exceptional apostolic zeal, particularly for families, young people and the sick, led him to numerous pastoral visits throughout the world. Among the many fruits which he has left as a heritage to the Church are above all his rich Magisterium and the promulgation of the Catechism of the Catholic Church as well as the Code of Canon Law for the Latin Church and for the Eastern Churches. In Rome on 2 April 2005, the eve of the Second Sunday of Easter (or of Divine Mercy), he departed peacefully in the Lord. He was canonized by Pope Francis on 27 April, the Second Sunday of Easter 2014.

Saint John of Bridlington(1319-1379) was a contemplative, a man of prayer, with a particular devotion to the celebration of the Mass. Although called to public office as prior, he always remained a contemplative at heart, and at various times in his life experienced the gift of ecstasies. He was noted for his self-effacing spirit and a great virtue of humility.
