It’s honestly making me really upset seeing how many authors here are cool w AI art. A writer should WANT TO PAY OTHER ARTISTS! If we cannot see the value in the art others create and the importance of it, why tf would we expect others to see the value in OUR art?

CLOWN IN A CORNFIELD.
Only in theaters, May 9th.
Might be time to shelf my finish horror manuscript. It’s disappointing because I feel like it’s a good story, but it’s my first time querying and I think I jumped into it too eager and overdid it a bit.
In the meantime, gonna start a new slasher story ✍🏽
Got a rejection from an agent I really wanted to work with. I think what really bummed me out is that they said it’s the type of story they’re interested in but they weren’t as taken with the manuscript sample. Makes me questions whether the story is any good 😔

if there’s one thing I’m good at as a trans, disabled author… it’s writing dark, violent YA books about trans and disabled boys that end up with fancy award medallions on the cover
three for three babyyyyy ✨✨
Would it be absolutely insane to start writing a sequel to a novel that isn’t close to being published? I don’t want to jump the gun but I also have lots of ideas for it #amwriting

the weirdest thing about editing is when you think, “i should add this” and then realize that you wrote the exact same thing two lines later.

I have officially completed the final draft of my sapphic stalker psychic psycho killer novel. Release date: October 31, 2025. 🫦👀🔮🔪
The query letter I would have sent out to #litagents (if I were still interested in trad publishing) for my sapphic stalker psychic psycho killer novel, INTUITION:
Dear [FIRST NAME LAST NAME],
I’m excited to share with you my adult psychological thriller, INTUITION, based on your interest in fast-paced, suspenseful stories that explore themes of toxic love with LGBTQIA+ representation. At 61,000 words, this book blends the obsession and deadly interdependence seen in Stephen King’s MISERY with the stalker vibes and unhealthy pining of Carolyn Kepnes’s YOU. With hints of fatal premonitions a la FINAL DESTINATION, this book would appeal to readers who enjoy chilling stories that make one question what is real and what is imagined. This has garnered interest from Jennifer Weis of The Weis Agency and Leah Mol, Associate Editor at Park Row Books, an imprint of HarperCollins Publishers during #PitDark October 2024.
Somehow, she knows things she shouldn’t—and it’s terrifying.
On her way back to Vermont for her cousin’s funeral, Sarah Rigby’s plans to be with her family are stymied when a psychic stranger warns her that her flight is destined to crash. Skeptical and determined to lay her cousin and dear friend to rest, Sarah ignores the woman’s haunting premonitions and boards the plane. Before doing so, the stranger leaves Sarah with several cryptic clues that will prove her visions are real. Undeterred, Sarah proceeds to get on the flight, but once there, she soon realizes that everything the supposed psychic said was true: This plane is going down, and she won’t go down with it.
After fighting to get off the plane and watching in horror from the airport as it crashes to the tarmac, Sarah searches the crowd of panicked travelers to find the clairvoyant who saved her life. The woman whisks Sarah away from the scene and takes her to a nearby diner where she introduces herself as Raven Lockhart—a self-professed psychic who has been plagued with visions about Sarah’s welfare for weeks. Raven reveals that the plane crash was the least of Sarah’s worries. Someone is after her, and only Raven knows how to protect her from what’s to come. But are the deadly premonitions the act of a psychic savior or a guise for something far more sinister? The only way for Sarah to find out is to place her trust in Raven—completely.
I am an award-winning murder mystery and psychological thriller writer living in Southwest Florida who publishes my books under the pen name K.T. Carlisle. As a proud member of the LGBTQIA+ community and survivor of domestic violence, I was able to draw upon my experiences both as a bisexual woman and a victim of abuse to illustrate the themes of toxic interdependence and sexual discovery present in this novel. My most recent self-published novel, I KNOW WHAT I SAW, was lauded by Kirkus Reviews as a thriller that “delivers on all levels” and sold nearly 400 copies in the first three weeks of its release.
Thank you for your time and consideration. I have provided a sample from INTUITION and would be happy to send you my manuscript immediately upon request.
Sincerely,
K.T. Carlisle
P.S. – Look out for INTUITION coming this Halloween 🎃
