Data from @NASA shows Earth reflects less sunlight back to space (albedo).
As the Southern Hemisphere holds more ocean, it's darker than the Northern Hemisphere.
But the NH is now as dark as the SH was 20 years ago!
Less (sea) ice, aerosols and clouds decreased albedo.

“Perhaps 100,000 tons of carbon have ever been removed from the atmosphere by a human-run process. But by 2050, in order to hit the IPCC’s targets, humanity must remove about 5 billion tons a year at a cost of roughly $100 a ton.” heatmap.news/economy/carbon-…

“We are running out of creativity tests that AIs cannot ace.”
“GPT-4 now beats 91% of humans on the Alternative Uses Test and 99% on the Torrance Tests of Creative Thinking.”
“The irony is that AIs were supposed to be all logic and no imagination.”
“Suddenly, AIs were able to pass all of [the creativity tests]”
Wharton professor Ethan Mollick:
“Instead [of AIs that are all logic], we get AIs that make up information, engage in (seemingly) emotional discussions, and which are intensely creative.
And that last fact is one that makes many people deeply uncomfortable."
"There is no one definition of creativity, but researchers have developed a number of flawed tests that are widely used to measure the ability of humans to come up with diverse and meaningful ideas."
"Applying human tests to AI can be challenging ... And, of course, psychological testing is not necessarily proof that AI can actually come up with useful ideas in the real world.
Yet, over the past couple weeks, we have learned from three new experimental papers that AI really can be creative in settings with real-world implications.
The first major paper is from my colleagues at Wharton. They staged an idea generation contest: pitting ChatGPT-4 against the students in a popular innovation class that has historically led to many startups.
The researchers used human judges to assess idea quality, and found that ChatGPT-4 generated more, cheaper and better ideas than the students.”
For practical purposes, AI is creative.
Three new working papers show that AI-generated ideas are often judged as both more creative and more useful than the ones humans come up with. And they also show you don’t need elaborate prompts to get good ideas. oneusefulthing.org/p/automat…
