This comes out today and the writing of it has been as fascinating as co-creating the shows it deals with - work that emerged from and added to community. Ta to the people @IntellectBooks and @LBubble who saw me through - plus all the creators who made and performed the work.
I find it disappointing that Darren Henley’s blog that accompanies the report, talks almost entirely about the Arts Council itself - the process, the partnerships, the existing support. Hardly a mention of the issues faced by freelancers or the recommendations.
Today we've published the Cultural Freelancers Study conducted by @Uni_of_Essex
The aim of this study was for us to develop a deeper understanding of the challenges and opportunities faced by freelancers across artforms we support

I am outraged & dismayed. I took my ID to the polling station but was turned away because I didn't have a dog with me. Did anyone else know about this new rule that you have to have a dog to vote?
Also, can I borrow a dog?

As others have said these short pieces are brilliant. Informative, cathartic and entertaining. Such a shame they can’t be on prime time.
A few points that Starmer didn’t touch on last night (sadly).
I do love a bit of well argued and righteous wrath.
This article not only charts the difference between the Market and Capitalism, it also explains the moral choice that investors must make. Between high returns that come from fossil based energy, or lower gains that come from investing in green energy. Your pocket or your planet?
‘Capitalists’ sole concern, as Marx observed, is how to turn money into more money, and it’s not clear that renewables are a very good vehicle for doing this, regardless of how cheap they are to run.’

"One day, every care home will have an Art Studio."
Please read this lovely @MagicMeArts blog, prompted by an image of the art studio at Appleby House: magicme.co.uk/about-us-2/mag…
This particular space is a big source of inspiration to us!

There are many ways to make theatre. Andy Smith pushing forward 💪
Just had a magic time at the theatre - A Citizen’s Assembly - made by the brilliant Andy Smith and @Lynsey_Merrick and performed at @The_Lowry by us, the people in the room. Such a clever, true and well crafted way to have a meaningful conversation about the climate crisis 👏

Wait till people find out that Fujitsu sued the NHS for £700 million in 2014 after its IT contract was cancelled due to it being a "train wreck" - money that could have gone on patient care.

Taken a moment to process the sad news of losing Anna Scher this weekend. An honour to have known and be taught by someone so special. Perhaps the best way to remember Anna is through stories… Thread 🧵

Teaching has led me to reflect that the creativity and intelligence of the group/ensemble/ hive mind is so much more than the individual. The challenge is to nurture this in a system based on marking/assessing students individually rather than collectively.
