Ashford and Simpson song and production from an ace LP ( on Ariola?!). Would make great rap sample. At this time they could do no wrong, simple but sophisticated soul. youtu.be/6O4k2AJEUgU?is=j9AJ…
40 years since his debut solo album, here’s some appreciation for Howard Hewett. Such a distinct vocalist, expressive and capable of emotional bursts that hit home, plenty of gems in his work. ‘I Commit To Love’ is a gorgeous stepper that y oh can snap up!

There are junctions in soul music where a team of talents come together and produce high art. And then dissipate after burning bright for such a short time. Lou Courtney produced by Jerry Gagavoy. One of the most loved soul LPs in the UK, here is the quartet of singles. Cult hero
This record is 50 years old. But this run of ballads sounds so sophisticated and haunting that you that timescale feels impossible. The Isley Brothers 70s albums contain many of the greatest ever soul songs but are still under-appreciated.
Chapter 8’s ‘This Love’s For Real’ LP is 40 years old. How can this be?? Still has one of the best 4 track runs of any album ever. Cult UK Classic.
The new @DJ_Indications album. Just head and shoulder above any else around at the moment. Strings and horns with tight vocals and gusto. Love them so much. Get the UK tour tickets- they’re superb live. Revives my faith in new soul music.

Angie was a real one-off and always great fun to talk to. Made some fine, fine music. R.I.P. and condolences to her family and all her friends. Man, it's been a shit time lately...
Huge losses this week, the Golden Generation almost gone. Roberta Flack’s legacy is rightly well established but feel Chris Jasper’s transformative impact on the Isleys over 10 years is not lauded enough. Sad week.
