I blame Biden, bail reform, and bike lanes.
Last year, there were 73 unprovoked incidents between sharks and humans, up from just 52 confirmed bites in 2020. It was the first year the number ticked up after three years of declines. n.pr/3tZIwts

The expulsion of @brotherjones_ & @Justinjpearson from the TN legislature not only disregards our democratic values, as @POTUS says, it’s also an unconstitutional violation of the #FirstAmendment. And there’s a unanimous #SCOTUS case that makes this clear. 🧵1/7 #TennesseeThree
Replying to @POTUS46Archive
Earlier, I spoke to Reps Jones, Pearson, and Johnson to thank them for their leadership and courage in the face of a blatant disregard of our nation’s democratic values.
Our country needs to take action on gun violence — to do that we need more voices like theirs speaking out.

Obviously I’m calling on @CitiBikeNYC to have a policy where they don’t, for any reason, endanger cyclists and block bike lanes, crosswalks, etc. This individual is just taking orders and doing what Citi Bike wants him to do as we heard from his response.
The people who control the levers of power and money are children. You already knew this. And now, finally, I do too.
Here's a 🧵expressing everything that's been percolating in my head about Mark Pomerantz and @ManhattanDA Alvin Bragg for the past year, but from someone who actually knows what she's talking about.
Mark Pomerantz quit @ManhattanDA office in a huff over the Trump case. Now he’s on a book/TV tour, carping about his former boss. (Also my former boss. More on that later). Pomerantz may think he's the smartest guy in the room but his judgment is👎 (1/x) nytimes.com/2023/02/03/nyreg…
🧵While politicians in the public eye disappoint us, disgust us, betray us, and worse, I’ve continued to find inspiration in the local electeds who mostly out of the spotlight do the work of keeping communities running, and, mostly, do so for all the right reasons.
So it’s with some sorrow that I read Noam’s statement today that he will not be seeking re-election next year as Mayor of New Rochelle. But, as always, he makes great points, with style.

Great news everyone, "America's Crime Crisis" (trademark Fox News) is over!
All it took was Election Day eliminating the perceived political benefit of talking about crime all the time, go figure. mediamatters.org/fox-news/fo…

Grand Street Dems welcomes Assemblymember-elect @graceleefornyc to our first in-person meeting. While we celebrate her win, she lets us know that there is more work to be done downtown to bridge the gap for people who feel left behind by Democrats. #GSD #downtown

Thanks @claskow! Doc has now been updated too with more names from Manhattan DLs.
Have @jennylamlow and @jshgdmn signed yet?
Members of @nydems state committee have drafted a letter to @GovKathyHochul urging her to change the leadership of state party by replacing @JayJacobs28
Hundreds have signed onto the letter including sitting elected’s in both houses of the legislature
Got the answer this morning: @jshgdmn yes, @jennylamlow no. And now that I see this circulated more broadly than State Committee, I’d love to see @claskow, @LeeBermanER, @GrandStreetDems sign as well. Oh, and I’m a County Committee member, AD65, so add my name too.
Over 500 party electeds, legislators & orgs signed this statement bc we know our NYS Dem Party can do better. We helped Gov. Hochul win, when Party Chair Jay Jacobs did little. Those actually doing the work of leadership deserve a voice in leadership. bit.ly/replaceJJstatement
