Excess savings in the United States continue to drop sharply.
Total excess savings are now down from $2.3 trillion at their peak to just ~$200 billion.
The bottom 80% of households current have ZERO excess savings remaining.
This is, by far, one of the fastest ever declines in excess savings.
All as total credit card debt crosses above $1 trillion and total household debt crosses $17 trillion.
People are feeling the pain of high inflation.

Starting in 2025, we will apply *zero-base* budgeting to the entire federal government: start from scratch in each department & ask what (if any) spending is required, rather than using last year’s budget as the default starting point. That’s how any good CEO would handle this mess. Our national debt is $33 trillion & we need a true outsider to fix it: the real problem is that *both* parties know no way to budget other than to continue spending on everything without real review of what works.

Americans outside the wealthiest 20% have run out of extra savings and now have less cash on hand than they did when the pandemic began. The figures point to dwindling firepower available for US consumers, whose resilience has kept the economy growing at a rapid clip this year and staved off the recession that many expected. Some analysts warn a downturn is still in the cards as households run low on spare cash. bloomberg.com/news/articles/…
